Just made it back on Monday. I was up at Drum evaluating a new piece of equipment that is supposed to be the new replacement for our old MILES gear.
In theory it is an awesome set up. There are antennae set up all over the training areas that "beam" the kills. This allows the mortars and artillery "get in the fight" more realisticly. Instead of the old days of fire-markers, where everyone runs when they hear a four wheeler, this system will basicly "kill" everyone who is within the burst radius of the munition called for. No more running away, with the guys left behind killed by the fire-marker.
Had alot of glitches to work out, but I really like the concept. Kind of cool to be involved with testing and evaluating new equipment for the Army

That sounds like a much needed addition to our training environment.
I hope the fielding is successful.
Thanks for your continued service.
