Ammo score this morning!!

Went to a Walmart that I heard gets a steady supply of 1,000 packs of ammo. They are a 24 hour store so they put their ammo out at night as soon as they get it. Stopped at another store (that I had almost forgotten about) on my way to my "regular" stores. They were stocking it right then. I got three bricks 325 (max limit) then called my brother to come buy the max for me as well. I walked back in and the lady asked if I wanted to buy 3 more boxes! I got six boxes and my brother is still coming to get three more.
I can go shooting again and not feel like I'll be out of ammo!
UPDATE: Sunday will be one year from this nice score. Most of that ammo is gone. I used most of it while taking new shooters out to learn the joy of firearms. The last little bit is set aside for a camping trip with the young men at church. It was supposed to be this weekend but a death in the ward set us back.

Congratulations, your exactly the reason that ammo is hard to find right now.
The reason ammo is hard to find is not shooters, it is people buying it up that list if for resale. They are the ones with 5-6 buddies standing in line waiting for the clerk to put new ammo out, to buy all they can get. I'm seeing .22 500 bricks sell for $70-$100 each!!! Some say gougers, some say capitalism at its best. I don't care, I'm not paying that for ammo.
I was in wally world yesterday, buying some groceries. Went to sporting goods. Called a buddy about 300 Win mag ammo (he passed on it.) Nothing in the display I needed. Went to pick up a bottle of Hoppes. The clerk came back with a couple cases of ammo.
I got lucky. She had two 1000 packs of M22 Win. I bought both at $53.21 total per 1000. I'm not going to resell them, I will shoot them.

Yes I am because I am going to SHOOT IT! This ammo is going to be used within the next few weeks. A trip with my best friend, some for my buddy to take his son shooting during spring break (like they've been doing for 10 years), some to take my friend out with his girlfriend since she's never shot before, some to take my brother out shooting because he feels he's ready to get a gun, and some to go out and spend some quality time with my dad.
So yes, I AM the reason that ammo is hard to find at Walmart. I am NOT however the reason that ammo is expensive; that is because people buy everything they can just to sell online at high prices. Ammo isn't hard to find. Just search on the auction side and you'll see tons of it. But you better be willing to pay for it. So get off your high horse before it gets a hard to find but reasonably priced 22 in it to put it out of its misery.
Oh yeah, and after I got my first three boxes, when anybody that came in looking for ammo, I let them go first.

I WISH I could afford to buy some to hoard! I was barely able to buy what I will SHOOT!
Academy has done it. Cabelas is doing it on certain products. Bass pro is doing it.
Doesn't bother me. But I think it's wrong to just keep going back

three boxes of 9mm. Three boxes of 380. One box of 22 WMr shot shell.
60 cents per round.
If I were out, I'd consider it. But a little pricey.
I find it hard to believe that manufactures can't ramp up and deliver pallets of .22 to stem the buying frenzy. I would think the machinery that produces .22 makes them by the millions a day?
CCI is producing 4 million rounds per day. The question is, where is it all going?
Nice little score, I'd say, & don't listen to the haters.
They can hate all they want. It doesn't bother me. If they see me list some on the auction side THEN it would be justified.

You know I was just funnin' ya.Wish I had enough to send you a box.I sold one box to a fella that bought his son a Henry 22 for Christmas, but only bought a 325rd box.Heck that's just a day of shootin for a teenager and his first 22.The local WM only get 2or 3 bricks at a time, they don't even get to put them on the shelf.
Oh yeah, and it also means 3 new people get introduced to shooting.
Good on you,sir![8D]

I know you were kidding. Steve on the other hand deserved an earful.
P.S. Email coming.

Not a hater and if thats an earfull it was nothing. Walmart has a limit on ammo so that one person cant buy it all. You were bragging that by winking at the sales clerk and enlisting your brother you got three times as much ammo as you should. Congratulations, your only fooling yourself that no real shooter might also have wanted some ammo after you. Id also like to say that I admire Walmarts efforts at "trying" to get ammo out to as many as possible.quote:Originally posted by calrugerfan

Winking had nothing to do with it. I even told her that I was fine waiting for others to come (i.e. my brother). She was fine with me buying more so I did. As for other shooters getting ammo, like I said, after I got my 3 boxes, I let EVERYBODY else go first. I have no problem with them limiting the ammo. And if I have to bring my whole family to get ammo, so be it. I saw a husband and wife there as well so they could get 6 boxes of ammo.
Me purchasing this ammo will allow at least three new shooters to experience shooting, at least 2 father/son bonding time shooting sessions, and 1 new gun owner. Tell me who deserved it more.
And if you really think I'm a bad person, ask hdcolt for a copy of the email I sent him. And if you need further proof, check out this thread.
The intentions of some would surprise you. I strive to be honest in all my dealings.
P.S. I said you DESERVE an earful. I didn't say I GAVE you an earful.
I never said you were a bad person, I just would have done it differently
Well this makes up for the last 5 months that I haven't been able to get any around here. I've had to forego taking new people shooting.
Regardless of whether you think I'm a bad person or not, your first comment was just wrong. If everybody that goes to Walmart would buy what they are going to shoot, everybody would be able to get what they want. I just happen to shoot a lot of 22. Its best for new shooters.

Just went to the hardware store in east point fla.
three boxes of 9mm. Three boxes of 380. One box of 22 WMr shot shell.

East Point, across from St George Island? If so, wish I was with you.
Yep[:D]
At least it seems to be claiming down a bit on the auction side for 22lr. Some for $40 a box of Federal Champion 22LR value pack with no bids. Just a month back it would have all kinds of bidders.
Zulu?! [:D]
