So, don't laugh. [:I] I've been a deer hunter since I was in my teens. I always accused the folks of just putting me somewhere in the woods to keep me out of the way. Once I started college, it was just home for the weekend and a few hours to hunt and then back to the books. Then, I got married (four days after returning from deer hunting) in 1983 and off we went around the world until 1998. So, sporadic hunting in all my adult years yielded no opportunties, I hunted, but didn't find. [:(] I took the kids to introduce them to the woods and the sport. [^] Always, empty handed. [B)]
This year I took a few days off from work and instead of doing my normal hunt 2 days and head back to the homestead, I spent a few more days hunting. Well, it seems hunting led to finding, and finding led to shooting and shooting lead to dropped a four pointer with the first shot I fired this season. [:D][:D] A nice, big, young Missouri white tail. Probably weighed over 200, since it took two grown men to drag it to the road after gutting.
The rack was a nice shape with length and curvature. It appears that the sparsity of acorns this spring led to my young buck having fewer points, but the glut Missouri is now experiencing led to a fine, juicy tenderloin! [:p]
So, I finally bagged my first at the ripe old age of 47 with the 30.06 I inherited from my Dad with a Bushnell scope. Running buck with a lung shot though the shoulder blade.
And yes, I assisted in the quartering for transportation and did all the deboning and freezer bagging here at home by myself. I left my brother and his family in Missouri to return to mine in Arkansas to celebrate my 25th wedding anniversary yesterday. A nice way to cap off 25 years of marriage!![:D]

You do have to be patient, and persistent, to be a successful deer hunter.
Put the mesquite chips on the grill, time to cook some butterfly steaks.
you're dong better than me. only deer i ever got was a doe that hit my car while i was at a stand still. took my drivers mirror assembly completely off, cracked the quarter panel and smeared snot all over the car then ran away.
pics. I sure hope you got some.[:D]
My deer attacked me while hanging so I have been wounded. One of the kids in camp was pulling hide from the hind quarter as I was skinning from the side. The rope holding the pulley snapped and down it came on my knife hand. So, three fingers on my right hand were sliced and bleeding profusely. It appears I will be carrying a few small scars from my first kill.[:I]
I have a freezer full of venison and a family that loves to eat it. We will be up to our elbows in white gravy and young buck for a good long time.[:p]
If I can figure out how to post the pic I have I will do it, although I will warn you the pic was taken on a Monday and I hadn't seen a shower since the Friday before.
Dad passed away in December '02 and Mom in December '06. They hunted every year, including the year my Dad had his 5-way bypass surgery (he used Mama's .44 Ruger rifle). Mama insisted that we continue to hunt after Daddy passed. The year she passed away she was in the hospital during deer season and insisted we hunt and not stay in the hospital with her. So, we carry on each year with tradition and bring the young ones to pass the tradition on to them.
My brother hugged me when I came out of the woods and announced I had finally got one. Actually what I said was, do you want to go get the 4-wheeler or drag it out? After almost 35 years of goose eggs I thought he was going to fall out of the truck![:D]
I sent the pic to my hubbie at his office and he had to show it off to everyone. My daughter's friends thought it was a hoot that her mom was out in the woods hunting. I'm only 5' tall so they can't see me out in the woods in Matterhorns and Coveralls, but hey I love it.[:o)]
Now for the pictures!
Not that his thread is entirely worthless without pictures.

Can't wait to go out again this year, I'm hooked.
Beats me. I can see it with no problem. Guess I still don't have this picture thing figured out after all.It appears to me that you are trying to host your picture on your own computer's "V:" drive. In order to share your picture across the Internet you will need to upload the picture to a web hosting service, such as Photobucket, which is free.
If you can't feel the music; it's only pink noise!
PB Picture removed.

You betcha. I killed a spike with a bow earlier this year. For breakfast one morning I fried up the floured and fried up the catfish and made gravy with the drippings. This was done in cast iron of course. Scambled up some eggs and and had one heck of a breakfast. I would prefer the inner loin grilled but, it was still tender and nothing like deer gravy.[:D]
You fried up the floured what?
