Man this doesn't happen very often. I was on the phone talking to NJRetcop and I was checking the local internet classifieds. A woman had just posted the rifle for $75, there was already 11 views on the post. I figured I would be too late but I fired her off an email anyway.
She lives an hour away in St Marys, I told her that I was coming to St Marys tomorrow for a Volleyball game and I would like to look at it. She answered back that she wasn't going to be home tomorrow but that she works at the courthouse in Smethport- 20 minutes away- and she had the gun in her trunk.
I replied don't sell it I will be there in 20 minutes. I hear about other people finding these kind of deals but never me!!!! This was too good to be true!!! Ain't no saddle Ring carbine, but still a good find!!!
It is a pre64 Winchester 30/30 serial# 12050xx, near as I can figure it was manufactured in 1942.
Real good shape, for a gun that has been sitting in a closet for years. It has a Williams side mount with an old Bushnell Banner 3x9 scope on it!
Bluing on barrel and receiver is 95%!!! Stock is in great shape with only a few minor scratches and dings.
It does have a sling swivel in the stock.
Not a collectors gun, but hey for $75 I done well!!!!!
Should I fel guilty???[:I]

Now it's time to remove the ugly mount and scope. I can't stand to see a lever gun with a scope on it!!!!!!
