Ferguson PD Officers:

Dear Ferguson PD officers:

Texas DPS is hiring experienced officers.

Austin PD is hiring.

Actually, lots of police departments in Texas are short-handed and looking for recruits.

Walk away. Get the heck out of Ferguson.

Let the idiots burn it to the ground.

Just go and don't look back.

I recently retired from Greenville PD. Greenville is a city of some 26,000 residents on the eastern fringe of the D/FW metro area. It is a good place to work, and there are openings there, too.

I sure hope they don't have to leave the state just because of this nonsense.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

hard to believe any of those folks are going to work. Sure does suck being a slave to house payments and car payments. I wouldn't work that job for Iraq contractor pay.

I don't care how bad you need a job or find Law Enforcement a calling in your life the abuse the Ferguson PD rank and file has taken from our President and his henchmen, the media and scumbag rabble-rouzers is not worth the effort. The justice departments ruling was BS and a pot stirring Marxist ploy.

I hope every WHITE officer leaves the Ferguson PD force en mass today.

    Negative on losing retirement.

If they are vested, they can leave their funds in place until they are of retirement age, and then draw it.

If they are not vested, they can withdraw it and pay a penalty, or roll it over into an IRA.

I think it would be just if all the ferguson cops would just pack their stuff and familys and leave it to the trouble makers then the people of ferguson could live with their own.

I thought the police were to serve and protect, so leave nothing there to protect and who wants to serve those idiots. I sure wouldn't blame them, in fact I would think they are pretty smart leaving.

Though to a point Nunn has a point I agree with you. Rolling over an accumulated account is not the same as retiring with your full pension and benefits. If I left now at 16 years, even if I rolled over my pension I'd lose many benefits including a $12,000/yr supplement that kicks in at 20 years. Many would also lose significant amounts in salary having to essentially start over in the career if they left and went elsewhere. At some point though they are going to realize that even with all that financial loss they'd ultimately be much happier if they cut bait.

i think a step up would be to hire more blacks into the police dept.how they are going to do that i don,t know, and have the officers live in ferguson.i think it would be better for the people to get to know the officers who police them. and i know their is racism still in this country and in police dept,s also as i have seen it in person. not any ware like it was in the south in the early 60,s when i was stationed there, but it is still with us. according to T.S. uncle albert, i don,t hate the police, but there are a few i don,t like(and they earned it).

It is very difficult to recruit qualified minorities, especially from impoverished communities to "leave" the culture they grew up in and "turn on their people" by becoming police officers. And that is exactly how they will be treated by many in their community, peer pressure is a strong motivator. When the "no snitch" "us vs. them" culture dominates your upbringing it I imagine it is very difficult to choose a different path.

It is happening everywhere. We deal with it too. We had the media inquire about the racial make up of our dept and why it didn't better represent the community. Not much you can do if minorities don't apply, and if they do, if they don't make it through the process then not much we can do. The dirty little secret is that the agenda folks want the standards to drop, which will result in folks that should never be hired as police officers. It is tough enough now to use the processes in place in an attempt to weed out bad apples.

Starting salary for cops in Ferguson, Mo (population ~21,000) is only $28,000 - before deductions.

Between what's going on there nowadays and that seriously bottom of the barrel pay I'd be surprised if they can get any decent applicants. I'm including that newly vacated chief's slot in this.

You have to ask yourself who in the world would apply there. There's a strong possibility that many of them will be folks either canned from or unable to even get hired on anywhere else.

I'm wondering if there is anything you can do in Ferguson that won't start a riot. A policeman kills a man in self defense and starts a riot. Some turd shoots two policemen and starts a riot. I'm starting to think Ferguson schedules riots the way my Church schedules potluck dinners. Just have the riot, we'll think of a reason tomorrow.
