Complicated story. Three kids jailed (officially for contempt) for refusing judge's lunch order. The kids claim their dad is an abuser and refuse to be in his presence. The judge says he is a good man and they have been manipulated by the divorced wife. Wonder who is telling the truth. It's pretty crummy when kids are caught in a messy divorce.

Like I have said before, democrats and leftist believe children are property of government.

If Dad is not abusing the kids he has a right to see them. May not be what the kids want but it doesn't matter. My wife's dad cheated on her mom...they divorced. Dad still got to see her even though he was a terrible example of a fater.

Reading the article, it appears as if the judge believes the father is the good guy and the mother is manipulating the kids to hurt the father. The eldest boy stated he witnessed the father hitting the mother. True? Only they know. In a he said/she said situation it's hard to be a good judge. If the kids get tired of juvy or the mother can convince them, they could sit down for a simple lunch with Dad. Just tell the kids there is nothing that says they have to have a friendly heartwarming chat. The judge just requires them to share a meal. The father can talk and they can listen.

my parent divorced when I was 7, my mother did everything in her power to turn us against my father, very very bad things I don't care to repeat here

I will say she tried to brainwash us to believing he was an abuser, had us scared to even see him drive by in an attempt to get a peek at his kids, I didn't officially see him till I was 14, I got to know him very well for the next 25 years till the day he died, he was far from the monster I was told he was, but for some reason my older brother is still brainwashed to this day

the real monster was my mother

That sucks. That is basically what this story is about. That mother ought to be real proud of herself[xx(]

For a female judge to show such empathy with the father in a family court in the US, there is very likely some pretty serious and blatant proof of the mother not acting in the best interests of the kids.

Not sure who is right and who is wrong on this one, but I have my opinions.
I went to high school with a guy that shot his Dad, DEAD.
He watched him beat his Mom one last time.
He missed about a week of school and just about everyone gave him a wide berth when he came down the hall.
That was the 70's. Things were a bit different then.
I often wonder how he's doing these days...........

The older boy said he saw his Dad hit his Mom which is all the judge needs to know. The judge doesn't know the man other than his nice behavior in her presents. The kids have a right to eat with who ever they want to and to put them in jail for not having lunch with their bum father for a whole summer is a bunch of BS! [:(!]

Just saw news the kids are out and on the way to summer camp. The father asked the judge, judge agreed.

No idea where the right and wrong is here. Just hoping the judge is making the right calls on who to believe.

i'm not saying this case is right or wrong, nor taking sides

but my mother tried to convince us that my father hit her and we saw it, she repeated it over and over through the years, my brother who is 5 years older than me still believes he saw it 40 years later, I was there when she pushed him and fell over backwards herself over a foot stool

she later tried to convince everyone I beat her with a baseball bat, in reality she hit me, and had me down and was choking me with the bat, I was pushing back, and she let go and it did hit her via laws of physics , I got up and threw the bat out of the second story window so it wouldn't be used again, I was in sixth grade and remember it like it was yesterday

Heard mother was involved in some type of "cult" activities which may have helped sway the judge.

I have an admission to make!!!
I only read the OP... I did not read the link....
If a FEMALE judge is fighting for a FATHERS right to see his children,he should be able to see them.
This BTW is totally unheard of in my world. As in,I have NEVER seen, nor even heard of a judge, male or female, taking a father/mans side in ANYTHING.Where a woman was involved....
Please, allow me to retract my former statement..[:I]

She changed her mind when the court started getting irate people making phone calls and sending E-mails. They ought to tar and feather the *!! The kids are innocent in this case and to send them to jail is about the stupidest thing I've ever heard of!!!

Could you imagine what would have happened if this was black kids being sentenced to spending the summer in jail for not having lunch with their father. Of course that wouldn't happen because they wouldn't know who the father was anyway.

I am before this judge all the time, and I know the current attorneys. This file is notorious in the courthouse. Mom has had something like 10 attorneys, the file is 7+ folders in size.

There is way more to the story than the media has reported, and it is unfortunate that the judge can't just issue her own press release.

It's rare for one person to be entirely to blame. It's even more rare for a person to admit any responsibility. Most of the time the people to blame don't know it themselves. Maybe the kids are partly at fault, but I doubt it.

What the judge accomplishes by sending the kids to jail is turning dislike to hate and making the kids an enemy of the legal system.
The road to hell is paved with COMPROMISE.
