Damn nice to see some good press about our troops on occasion.

Being that he was asleep when his camp was attacked, and all he grabbed was his gear and ran to the wall to fight the enemy, I would be proud for him to post here. He is one of the hero's in my eyes.

I agree. Just happen to think the pink boxers make the picture...

That is one of the reasons Marines have certain undergarments you can wear. That red shirt stands righ out to the point he would be a target. They also found that some burn more than others.

I used to show this photo in one of my art history classes. One time two female students (LDS Church members) became so outraged they left never to return. Also complained to the college president that I was showing porn in the class.

Photo is by Horace Bristol and was taken on board a PBY rescue plane in 1944. The plane had set down in the water under enemy fire to pick up a pilot who had ditched in the ocean. The Navy crewman had stripped and jumped into the water to help the pilot climb on board and then manned his gun without taking time to get dressed as the plane took off. Again, all of this happened while under enemy fire.

One picture may be worth a 1,000 words, but sometimes you need a few words to fully understand the context of the picture.

It could be a woman from the village bringing food and supplied, who knows. but leave it to the New York Times to jump to conclusions.

Should told them that was someone's grandpa who wasn't mormon--then they could have been baptized for him and all would have been well. [;)]

Not what I would wear and I wouldn't want him close to me at the wall, but it shows initiative. I hope he took his shirt and pants with him.

In my opinion the morale factor and comic relief outweighs the hazard of not wearing olive green, but it will probably get some Colonel's butt chewed and end up with new underwear standing order.
