OK :

Short version : last week purchased a greyhound ticket for a 'female friend' to come visit over the 4th holiday : she is located in So. Il.
& Im in S.E. TN ( over 600 miles apart ) : she went to pick up the ticket & board the bus tonite : They would NOT issue her the ticket because I paid for it on-line & was not the person picking up the ticket ??? after long numerous phone calls : I was told : to bad -so bad : Non-Refundable : had to "repurchase" another ticket ???
They have to have the WORSE so called customer service I have ever encountered !!!! After talking to 'Angel' (who barely spoke english) for some time : and The female @ the bus station HUNG UP on me ,,,, Im @ my witts end !!!! Will talk to my bank ( & a call to my attorney ) tomorrow ??? Maybe it will be better .....

Rant Over !!!

Thanks !!!!

If the policy was told to you at time of purchase you are out of luck. I hope you put it on a credit card and they agree to charge them back for the issue.

If you paid for a good or service you have reasonable expectation to receive goods or service in exchange for the money.

If at the time of purchasing for transportation for one person, that is what your reasonable expectation is. If they did not have you fill out a "bill of lading" so to speak, the issue is not your non performance but theirs.

I had recently tried getting a price from Tucson to Phoenix, and they could/would not give me a price. How sad is that?

You must have screwed up somewhere.

I booked a ticket from Bay Minette to Paris, Texas on June 28 with a return on 7 July for $325.

It asked for the passenger name and then who was paying for it if different.

I did not talk to a human. I was unfamiliar with the website, but managed okay.

DITTO ! none around these parts either.

Yeah they are. Go to the website I provided and enter your zip in FIND MY BUS STOP. It will show you where to catch the bus.

You can't get there from here - at least if "here" is where I live.

From the website - "No results found for your search"

I have bought bus tickets for my son online, when he was in a far away city. During the purchase process, I had to name the person picking up the ticket, and I think maybe he had to use a password.

Assuming nothing in your rant is a misunderstanding you should slam them hard. I know I would.

HA! I checked and got NO RESULTS so no Greyhound in this state.

    What state is that?

HA! As I said previously, most people are helpless.
These are just the official bus stations on the map. There's a lot more stops.

    That website is . . . ummmmmm . . . less than accurate?

There is no bus that stops at the location indicated on the map for me. There is no bus that stops in my town - period. [;)]

If I was going somewhere and Greyhound was the transportation option I would opt to not go

This, and I definitely wouldn't date a woman that would ride on one.

But as other said, you probably didn't tell him that it was somebody else that you are paying for it. So it's probably all your fault

Just trade in the ticket for another one and list her as the passenger this time

    Problem solved

Memories of riding Greyhound from my small hometown 300 miles to the big city back in the early 70's.

It was a sunup to sundown affair, stopping at every cattle crossing and college town.

I wish we had a passenger TRAIN station close to home! I'd love to travel the country by rail.

Sorry. I didn't know you were asking for my location.

    Try - Atlantic, Iowa 50022.

I live on Maple Street. Seven blocks North of the point indicated on the map. West side of the street. Bedroom is on the second floor. Southwest corner of the house. The point indicated on the map is just over the hill.

(Edit to add: I sleep on the left side of the bed.)

Quote....Overall, not a "bus riding" person. Riding a bus is slower than hitchhiking and one step above crawling IMO.

    I bet you haven't tried hitchhiking lately![:0][:)]

I took 4 cross country trips on Greyhound from Washington State to Upstate New York going back and forth to school.

IIRC, it was 53 hours of hell. One looked for bars close to the bus station during meal stops. Jumped off the bus, pounded as many beers as possible and ran back to the station to embark and sleep as much as one could. I don't remember changing busses, and by the end of the trip, the smell inside that rolling sweat sock were something to behold.

It was cheap and I was poor, so there was no real option of anything else.
