Anybody here used WinX DVD Ripper Platinum?

I want to copy Sledge Hammer from DVD to hard disk, but it's copy protected. I downloaded WinX DVD Ripper which was supposed to do the trick but when it started it gave me a message that the encryption was too good for WinX DVD Ripper and I should buy WinX DVD Ripper Platinum.

This sleazy way of trying to sucker me into buying their program makes me wonder if anything they make is worth the gamble.

Also, the write-up for WinX DVD Ripper Platinum says I need the "title number" of the original DVD to make the copy. I have no idea what they are talking about. Any suggestions?

Go to slysoft website and you can download "any dvd" and "dvd clone". You will need both. There is a free trial so you won't have to pay for them unless you like them. Any dvd will stay running in the background when you open dvd clone anduse it to copy the disc.

    You are breaking the law.

That said, use HandBrake - at least you know the code is clean. And if you don't trust it, you can *see* the source code, compile it yourself, etc. :)

That may be true, but I doubt it and it's at least open to debate.

If Warner Brothers or SONY or whoever produced the DVDs think their copyright outweighs my right to use a product I paid them U. S. Yankee dollars for, they can return my Yankee dollars and sue me. If they win the case they will get the forty bucks back plus the dollar ninety-eight I have in the bank. They could get enough for a meal for two at McDonalds.

    I don't fear lawyers because I ain't got no money. [:D]

Right now I'm leaning to getting the DVD Fab, but their webpage doesn't tell me much.

Do you know what format it writes the output in. Their webpage says output format is DVD-Video disc, DVD folder, ISO image file. What I'm looking for is AVI, WMV, MP4, MPEG, etc.

By the way, I appreciate the straight scoop you gave me on the droid. It took some getting used to, but now I wish I had bought it fifty years ago. [;)]

I seem to remember out putting in avi, but I vaguely remember it was a process. As in i think it required a separate program. Can't swear to the details. It's been a few years. If I remember correctly, I had fab 5, so they may have made some changes to make it easier. Definitely worth dropping them an email before shelling out the cash.

Glad you're liking your new toy. There's a learning curve for sure, by once you have it down it's pretty cool.

I'm not against the format shifting, I think it should be protected. However, the scrotus has ruled that breaking technological methods to access your rights to fair use is *still* against the DMCA.
