Army basic training graduation gift

Hello,
My step son is graduating basic training for the Amry National Guard soon. Despite the fact that I've raised him the majority of his life (since he was 6), we've never been very really close...Were total opposites!
I'm very proud of him though, and thinking I should get him something , but I really don't know what... I thought about having a watch engraved, but he doesn't wear one and uses his phone to tell time.
I thought about a nice kbar knife, but I can't bring it on the plane...
Any ideas are appreciated!

And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
you can check the knife in baggage. I think that's a great gift.
A good knife is always the best gift that 2 men can give each other
A nice wrist watch is always an appropriate gift...Even if he doesn't wear it often.
I am with Mark. He will wear it at times and those times he will think of you. I also bet that he has a much higher opinion of you then you think and it will come with maturity. Another vote for an inscribed watch with something from your heart, DAD. Oakie

Second behind a gun of course.

3rd or 6th, I lost count, on the K-bar.
anyway
This is a once in a lifetime deal, so I'm thinking I'll get him a watch and a knife.
I was thinking if he ever get deployed this watch might come in handy as it has a lot of features.

You can find them in all price ranges. You know, something a little nicer.....He won't be young forever, and he will wear it with pride knowing it was given with love and respect.
Also, Tiffany's carries a beautiful Sterling Silver Swiss Army knife that can be engraved. I believe they are about $200.00 or less. Something special for a special accomplishment.
Congratulations to him!
O.K. They have gone up since last time I looked!

Whatever you get him, include a handwritten letter telling him what you just told us, that you are very proud of his accomplishments.

I could not agree more!
