My adventures in indoor gardening continue. Got my second garden in the mail (for free, how cool is that?) today.

I'm now growing:
Tomatoes x2
Jalapano peppers

Parsley
Marjoram
Genovese Basil
Savory
Mint
Oregano

Should be ready to harvest just in time for the new housewife [:)]

How did you get it for free?
You mean the pods, or a whole setup.

Most indoor gardens don't grow that kind of stuff.

    The whole thing.

They sent me an email asking if I'd like to be a beta tester. I agreed.

I didn't even have to pay shipping

Wow,.......let me know how two of those pups affect your electric bill.
I am still considering one for herbs.
    Congrats on the luck!

The difference in electric usage is barely noticable. The bulbs don't use that much power

Rack,.......I know I asked you this once before, but how many hours per day do the lights have to run?
I remember you saying something about them bugging your dog, or something to that effect.

My problem is I am in and out of here at all different times, and the idea of leaving some high wattage, heat producing lights on with nobody home kind of bugs me, safety wise.

They run about 16 hours a day. You can either turn them on/off manually or (like me) use the built in timer.

They do put off heat, but not much. I haven't actually touched the bulbs while they are on, but I have held my hand close to it out of fire concerns. The heat thrown off by them is barely even noticable.

If one was to turn over, I'd be more worried about the water than the lights

Ignore the date/time stamp.....damned camara refuses to believe its June.

These are the tomatoes (either side) and pepper (center) plants. Planted them last wednesday.

The tomatoes are about 1" tall, the pepper maybe an inch and a half.

Very nice. I'm still getting together the parts for solar powered ebb/flow hydroponic setup. Just picked up another 55 gal drum today.

You need to time your lights to correspond with sunrise/sunset. An old hippy told me.[8D]
