just found out, my son doesn't need me any more. this is his first year hunting alone, I had to work won't make it out till thursday. He got the big buck monday morning less than 1/2 hour in the woods, I did build him a tree stand, ect and showed him a few trails saturday, as he is in colledge now and he doesn''t get home much. nice big 8 point largest to date, guess I won't ever hear the end of this one, the guys at the cabin chip in a few dollars for largest buck. It's just hard to beleive, as the last few bucks he shot I had to literally kick him to wake him up so he could shoot them. It's just hard to realize I'm no longer needed.

Don't be so hard on yourself. If it wasn't for you he probably wouldn't have know how to hunt. Just look at it as years of investing you time paying itself off. You guys can always hunt together next year.

I'm 31 and I am going hunting with my dad this coming weekend in PA. It's definitely not too late for you two to still hunt together.

not really meaning to whine, its just hard to realize he can do it on his own, and is old enough to get by , by his self. I'm happy he got one, its just at the same time I know there will be tooooo many more that I won't be involved with. PLUS THIS IS A BUCK I HAD MY EYE ON.

dont know what kind of relationship you have, but speaking from my relationship with my dad, he may get older but he will ALWAYS need you. of that you can be sure.
