    I DVR each episode.

It's pretty good, but what's up with the same sex crap?

I guess Hollyweird has to add that type of slant to everything they make these day...[V]

What kind of rifle is he using in the promo?
Seems to show a magazine sticking out the bottom.

It's entertaining and they display some good old rifles. Pierce Brosnan's character is born in 1836 Texas, the year of the Alamo. At 14, he ends up being raised by Commanche's,even falling in love with one. Fast forward to 1915 Texas and the oil boom is beginning to take shape. Pierce has a gray beard now, but he is still ridin and shootin it up. He has a mistress that he rolls in the hay with every now and then. But the math! 1836 to 1915 is 79 years. Seems a bit of a stretch for that period. Nonetheless, it is action packed and entertaining. Nothing like it comparable since Hell on Wheels. Heard one critic say Pierce Brosnan (who is British) should never be allowed to play a Texan again.[:)]

That is my point. Its 1915 they were deep in the closet and did not stick their nose out.

Again they have to depict the bl*ck dude as the smartest, fastest, coolest take your pickest, in the bunch, when in reality he would be sharecropping somewhere.

    I think it's a great show.
Very entertaining. I understand the whole time line/age thing with Eli, but it's just a tv show!
I enjoy movies and shows that are somewhat loosely based on history.
The Son covers that. Comanches, Texas Rangers, settlers, buffalo hunters, Cattle ranches, oil, Mexican border war, etc.
Not to mention some cool guns and gun fights!

The Lewis gun was invented by an American in 1911. He went to Belgium in 1913 to build the gun because the US Army did not want it.

He produced a few and the Belgians bought some in 1913.

In 1914 BSA purchased the license to produce the Lewis and the factory moved to England in 1914.

The guns were produced for the British in late 1914 and on. Some were exported in 1916 to Canada and the US where they were chambered in 30-06.

I think it is a little bit of a fetch that they had a 1st year production model Lewis Gun in TX in 1915..............could it happen yes but its not likely.

I understand that there were same sex relationships back then just as they are now.

What chaps my butt is how Hollywood just has to reflect that fact in each & every production that they are involved in these days.

I feel it is their attempt to mainstream happiness, so that it is in everyone's face all the time. Thus, making the lifestyle more acceptable to society over time.

Actually, Savage started producing them in 1914 also at the onset of WWI. So they were being manufactured in the United States in 1914.

I like the leather and period firearms. Was surprised to see the 1910?? Winchester semi auto. Began to pay more attention after I saw that. Am also interested to see how the attempt to steal the Mexican's ranch progresses. I understand that did occur in South Texas on a smaller scale. Walter Prescott Webb alludes to it in an interview some years after writing his book about the Texas rangers. One of the Texas Adjutant Generals was alleged to have participated in a killing some years prior to his appointment.

I enjoy the show, better then most, and mostly as far as I can tell period correct firearms and such.
It sort of shows the "real" world of its time.

My friend and neighbor, David Carrico made the holsters and belts. He does great work. I have one of his holsters, still waiting on him to have time to make me a belt to go with it.

    Peace
