WHAT EXCUSE IS NEXT???..

This is NOT a male bashing thread, but this did happen, and I couldnt help but think just what other excuse would he use when I beat the pants off him...

We have a friend who just moved here from New York bout 2 months ago...He used to come down every few months and we would go shooting etc...Well he has always wanted to shoot against me to see who would win...Gun was 1911A1.

Classic told him how I shot, as did another friend who had been shooting with us and was a friend of his as well...As we were all talking another person from the range came up and verified what Classic and the other person were telling him...

The challenge was called off by HIM....Excuse??...Woman are usually better shots than men because women dont have 'testostron' and the muscle twitch or tic that comes with the 'testostron'....('spelled as he pronounced it'}

And my reason for him calling it off?....CHICKEN.....*LOL

    .....Heck, when we bowled, Cathy always had about a 20 pin better average than me. I was proud, and bragged to anyone that would listen about her scores. Sounds to me like he has a problem with insecurity.........maybe stemming from tiny wiener syndrome.
    ......He looks like more of a loser for backing out with a lame excuse than if you had beat him fair and square.

    I bought a 9mm and my 'ex shot it better than I did.

    I traded it up for a .45 and regained that which was lost.[:D]

    What ca-ca. If true, there would have been women biathlon and Camp Perry winners long before now. I mean, some woman probably can shoot better than some men because some men are just lousy shots, but the best shooters have and always will be men.

    DWS...

    I have a feeling that is "another excuse" ....Its just that women have not been in the shooting sport as long as men have...

    It's been my experience, generally speaking, that women do tend to shoot better than men and seem to have a natural knack for it.

    I read somewhere years ago that "women are better instict shooters". Have no idea of it's validity, but have heard that mkore than once.

    Blackroses.. AKA Annie, maybe he just couldn't handle it. I bet his wife or girlfiend does a few thing better than him. If I get down there I will shoot against you. Only I can't shoot a 1911 as good as something else. I will complement you if you beat me not beat myself up..

    Now THAT'S an excuse. And it must also explain why there are so few women chefs.

    ...it's all about breathing technique and breath control, women have an advantage due to Lamaze childbirth classes....it's also why they can talk on cell phones longer.

    That's a good one... but I thought it was because of my big hands I can't feel the gun as well.

    Welcome back. Like Carlos Hathcock, I, too, always thought accuracy was a function of childbirth.

    I've been told that women have lower heart rates and breathing rates which make them better suited for long range shooting, but I have no idea if its true or not.....

    Even if true, what difference would it make? Helen Keller had a low heart rate and she was no better a shot than Classic.

    Having done guite a bit of shotgun shooting instruction, the main thing learned was that women Listened better to the theory and instruction to better themselves and break more targets.

    In the hunter education classes that I have taught I have found that girls average better scores than boys. I suspected that this had more to do with the girls in the class being there because they wanted to be, rather than pressure from peers and parents.

    I don't know if women are better shots than men, but I always liked the way their tiny hands made the guns look large.[}:)][:D]

    That's because girls are better at taking tests. But the issue is, are they inherently better shots? Would a woman with PMS still be a better shot than a man with ill-fitting jeans? What does periodic water weight gain do to sight picture?

    I was addressing the statements made above regarding intellect more so than shooting ability. Since shooting accurately, at least with a rifle is a function of combining focus and concentration with technique; breathing/alignment prevailing over muscle power, I would say that body size/strength has little to do with accurate shooting, and as such, one's gender should have very little to do with rifle shooting ability, however, this is THEORY, and the EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE is that based on the results of shooting matches such as at Camp Perry, Men are better shots.

    FWIW- I have in the distant mists of the past been involved with teaching basic rifle marksmanship of the M-16 rifle to male and female 18 yr old soldiers. Just my impression, but women soldiers had fewer bad habits to unlearn, and marginally better fine muscle control. On the .50 Browning M-2, the difference in average upper body strength became glaringly apparent- that thing requires MUSCLE. As just my opinion- someone that will turn down a shoot because they feel someone else has an advantage over them is a WUSS! I once shot against a member of the USMC pistol team- knowing that before hand. He cleaned my clock, I shook his hand, and bought the beers. But I shot the match. Blackroses, I would gladly shoot with you any day- and loser buys for the better shooter.

    I just can't concentrate when shooting with a woman. My mind is elsewhere[:o)] And they know what they are doing to distract me.

    br, its not about excuses. its about what he was NOT willing to lose. youre not giving us all the facts. what was he NOT willing to lose? by yielding to your challenge, you won the match. but i get the impression this wasnt about pride. what ELSE was being wagered?[B)]

    I wouldn't be afraid to shoot against you. If I lose I'll just blame it on my Springfield Armory 1911..

    for what ever reason women are better shooters "out of the box", i have seen to many women for their first time outshoot most men, now with that being said here is my take as to maybe why

    men tend to over think shooting

    women do not {there is a target, point squeeze}

    men: target, close eye, point gun, take aim, carefull now, exhale, hold, reaquire perfect sight picture, squeeze don't pull
