trying not to hijack sigs thread, but they do it as well, steel vs plastic means absolutely nothing , i think it is safe to say these guns did not return to the range that day if at all

yes they could, and we must face that every bullet is a miniature pipe bomb every time we pull the trigger, most often just taking the path of lease resistance

i am not entirely convinced that this lil'bomb is safer wrapped in steel vs wrapped in plastic there is a reason why steel is used in bombs to begin with, to build even greater pressure

i gave an opinion and theory how is that pontification ?

edit: they use modern ceramic plates for bullet resistant vest vs steel, modern cars are composed of plastic surrounding steel for its crumble and break away properties all for good reason

Most of the times when a 1911 goes kaboom it's because somebody was reloading and through double charge, or they had a squib and fast shooting and didn't realize it and had a bullet stuck and there barrel with the shot another round. Every gun that has ever been built can only withstand so much pressure, and if somebody screws up and shoot something that will subjected to an exuberant amount of pressure causes the problem of a kaboom. Although A metal frame 1911 will handle excess pressure better than a polymer gun whether it is a 1911 a Glock a Ruger or any other make for model polymer firearm

Main reason gun ranges that have rental guns make you buy their ammo since some load their ammo hot and they don't want to use their weapons for tests

My friend inherited his dad's Remington Rand 1911 and bought a reloading set up. He looked at the chart for the 45 Colt by mistake and proceeded to somehow stuff 10 grains of Unique into the 45 ACP cases. He managed to fire three rounds before the barrel bulged and locked up the gun. Being born under a lucky star or something that's all the damage the pistol suffered and new barrel set it right.

I stupidly shot some friend's hand loads and bulged the cylinder on a 1917 Colt New Service in 45 Colt. He double charged a few with 16 grains of Unique. Found a cylinder for $50.

My F-i-L found this Marlin 336 in the woods while deer hunting. Not one piece of the gun is usable except the butt stock. Assuming a gross overload. Also assume the shooter suffered injuries and he simply dropped the ruined rifle and staggered off to find help.

Barrel blown at bottom of chamber, receiver cracked and warped, magazine and fore send blown off, a total loss.

I'm not going to lie, it hurts looking at these. I have the unfortunate incline that I will have to get over flinching the 1st few rounds I fire out of a pistol again.

Not to be rude, but anybody thinking that a "steel" gun will fair better in a situation such as the one that happened to me is fooling ones self in my opinion. Having 1st hand experience, I don't think I would have wanted to be holding a 1911 either. [:(]

The 9mm must not have enough power to blow itself up. [:D]

Similarly, I had an Oldsmobile 260 that during its time, it went 465k miles without any work inside. It was horribly slow the entire time I had it (from 119k on). It was in a Cutlass and was ultimately referred to as The Gutless. We concluded that the motor was so weak that it didn't have enough power to wear itself out.
Fanatic collector of the 10mm auto.

    Doc...

Clean up the marlin receiver and send it back for warranty repair along with a short note...

There is always the chance that they will replace it or offer you a rebate on a replacement...

    Can't hurt.

Yeah, but isn't that kind of wrong?

    .45 versus 9mm
    Glock Versus 1911

SKS? Anyone have an SKS blow up?
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

Kaboom... it's not just for cleaning showers any more.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain
