Cant really tell by the small photos.

But but do know that the Case XX, 337-6"-Q was an Army issue during WW2.

Grand dad carried one in the Pacific during WW2 that he brought back along with another that had an extra letter on it. Was told that the extra letter had something to do with rank. And those are rare.

    THANKS!
I didn't realize Case was the name of the knife, I thought it meant case hardened or something like that[:I]
so, the steel pommel is for crackin' heads?

WWII Case 337-6"Q----Nice----The bright blade is 6" long and marked "Case XX" on one side and "337-6"Q" on the other. The blade is unsharpened but has 2 very minor pepper spots and the owners name lightly etched. The guard and pommel are tight. The leather handle is very clean and unused. It comes with the original scabbard that is complete. The scabbard also has the owners name on it "Limp". Ref: Cole III pg 70----Nice Scarce Knife----$ 275.00

IIRC, the "Q" is for quartermasters knife, the heavy blade was for opening crates, the pommel for closing them....

Cracking heads, driving nails, tent pegs, opening crates it was used for a lot of different jobs.

I do not know the brand name. But once saw a weird knife marked US ARMY that had a slot in the blade and a T shaped tab on one side. Was told that two of them used together could be used to cut communication wire.

You can tell a lot about a Case brand knife by knowing the type lettering used, Dots, and numbers.
