good grief....

Several months ago, we decided we were going to keep our wedding small, to keep down expenses.

I wanted 1 Maid of Honor and 1 Best man....simple is good, right?

She decided she could choose betweeen her two best friends....so we had to have 2 Maids of Honor.....I caved, and added one more groomsman.

As the months progressed, she's added a "junior bridesmaid" and a flower girl.....

Now she tells me she's adding another bridesmaid...and wants me to add more groomsmen to keep things "even"

I should have eloped when I had the chance [B)]

Get ready, it'll get worse. You can't remember everyone, someone will get left out, not intentionally, it just happens.

I agree, my nephew had a wedding that went the same way. started small & turned into a parade because that was what "she" wanted. Cost my brother-in-law a lot of money for the wedding & it didn't last a year.

They will do that. I had to lay down the law a few times with ours. No sense in seeing how much it can cost on matter who's paying. Putting on the dog is BS.

My fiancee has a niece that got married a few years ago,......we both went.
The father of the bride shelled out around 40K for all of the "festivities", and got quite drunk at the reception,......couldn't blame him!

A year later, they were divorced![:0][B)]

    I guess I shouldn't complain....the average US wedding costs $28,000

With rings, dresses and everything we're still below $3,000

The budget isn't quite as lavish when you're paying for it yourself

Yep thats not too bad. I had a friend once whos parents got married by a one armed justice of the peace, they were married just the same as the guy who spent 100K! Thats all that matters, at least she loves you. Whens the big day?

As long as it fits into the budget.

Every woman wants to have the chance to be Princess Diana for one day in her life and her wedding is going to be the day. If you are still under $3K go ahead and let her have her way. You'll be way ahead down the road [;)].

I think our wedding cost $20. Since we were just out of school we wore our prom outfits. Best man was my best buddy, and bridesmaid was her sister. My mom bought us each a flower to wear, and the in-laws paid for the cake and punch. The preacher cost $10 bucks and the marraige license another $10. That was 29 years ago the 30th of June in small town Iowa.

I could never understand the logic of the bride-to-be, why many feel the need to cave into the idea that a simple , beautiful public declaration of love and commitment must turn into the wedding that is the social event of the season. As a former bridemaid/matron of honor with a closet full of ghastly gowns I forked out a lot of money for and wouldn't be caught dead in a ditch wearing, like I said, the logic escapes me.
Of course, you have to remember, that almost every bride wants to be a princess for that one day in her life that the entire attention of the masses will be cast upon her. We all deserve at least one white-dress/church wedding...

I never spent much on any of my weddings. However, the price of the divorces would make your head spin! Don
