Had planned on getting a 550 to load multiple calibers, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Looking thru some local classifieds this am and noticed that someone has a sdb set up for 9mm complete for $250. I thought about getting it and leaving it as a dedicated 38spl loader. I don't have a 9mm, and getting a new head from Dillon would be about $90, so I'd be into the sdb for just under $350. Would it be good to just have a dedicated sdb for 38, or would buying the 550 be a better route??

The simplicity of the SDB appeals to me. I have roughly half of the Diesets they have ever offered for mine.

I have and am a Strong advocate of the Forster/(mine says: "Bonanza") press for Rifle Calibers.

Depends on how much you shoot and what calibers.

i had 2 550's at one time, one dedicated 9mm, the other .45

i found it was a waste to dedicate one since it take only a few minutes to change the toolhead and conversion plate, i traded it for a case feeder

money would be better spent buying an extra powder hopper to dedicate to the tool head, they even sell a tool head stand for that
