You did the right thing, good for you.

I have done it several times and gone back and glad that I did.

Except for the time the in 2006, when I found $341,388.74 in my business checking account that wasn't mine. A deposit on my statement, that wasn't mine. Told 'da wife, " Were're buying a new house !!!"
Next day went to the bank, asked to see the manager, showed her my statement and she went nuts. Grabbed it out of my hand and said this was bank property. Ahh....I brought this in to your attention as I'm going to guess some one is looking for this money. Well it should as hell isn't yours she said. We have been looking for this for 28 days. The conversation went down hill from there. She said I would get a new statement in a few days, she was keeping the one that I had. She was rude and no thanks at all. As I was going out the door, I turned and said that I came in as an honest guy, who wanted to help you. Just so you know, you are a branch bank and this morning the main bank verified that the full amount in my account was draw-able or transferable. Please think about that.

I got the same deal at Home Depot a few months ago.

I paid for my breakfast one morning at the company HQ.
I told the cashier she had my change wrong.
She got all huffy and assured me it was correct.
I gave her back the extra dollar she had given me.
    She just looked stunned.
Woman behind me said you're not from here are you.

Drive through bank gave me an extra $20.
I went inside and told the teller.
You would have thought it was a major crime.
They shut down the drive through, pulled the cash drawers and stopped all transactions until they had verified the count was correct.

I was once shopping for some poo singing stuff and had picked up a brush. As I continued to shop I realized I must have set the brush done somewhere. Grabbed another and paid for the stuff. When I got home I realized I had something in my back pocket. Yup the missing brush.

I bought some supplies one time, mentally calculating the cost in my head. When the total came, it was a bit cheaper than I thought, so I double checked, and they hadn't charged me for an electrical breaker. I told the clerk,, and he thanked me for being so honest.

I told him, "I'm not that honest, but my dad is buried in Illinois, and if I tried to get away with this, he would make a point of getting up out of the ground and walking 400 miles to kick me in the butt."

Good job! I believe it is all about a proper upbringing and pride in the family name. Our family name has never been associated with thievery. Some folks in my town can not make that claim.

We had 5 accounts there, 2 personal,2 business and a line of credit connected to a debt card.
The bank was going through a change over after being sold or taken over by an out of state bank. One day my debt card was declined at the hardware store. Stopped at the bank and asked to them why, "Oh, we are redoing all
accounts and you will have to reapply for your line of credit."
Ahh...no, been here 11 years, wait a minute, hell no !
We were about to sell a piece of property and use the proceeds to build a new barn. Told 'da wife that I wasn't about to be moving money around with those folks.
Asked around and found a new bank, been there since 2006.
They will bend over backwards to help you out. Great people.
After we had been there about 6 - 7 months, a local business owner wasn't happy with my old bank either, told him about the bank I was using. He went there and checked them out an then moved all of his accounts. His business has more money than I could make in several life times.
About a month after he opened his accounts, the manager of the bank stopped by me, with a fancy box of chocolates. Said it was a thank you for the referral and that he had referred 2 more accounts to the bank. That time about 2 years ago when I has in and out of the hospital with the stomach problems for a week or so, a get well card was sent and signed by all the people working at the bank.
Am still there today and am happy.

I'm certain the bank manager's job was on the line.
That explains, it doesn't excuse her attitude.

I sure hope she found another line of work.

i was about 20 in the 80's, went to the bank to cash my paycheck, for 400.00, the teller gave me 420.00 i said excuse me i think you made a mistake, she came back defensive and loud stating she doesn't make mistakes, i calmly gathered my cash and said "ok" and walked out, 20.00 was a lot of money back then
