great movie. when it came out i was like 12 years old and immediately started preparing for a soviet invasion. I organized about 5 of my friends into an "army" and we had 6 rifles and plenty of ammo. we had battle plans and bunkers and we were prepared for war. the invasion never came. but now there is a mosque down the street and a broken border 2 hours away. who is the real enemy now ?

Red Dawn is coming on TV for about the 5th time in the last couple of weeks. Think TV is telling us that the zombies are coming?

I have always liked that movie.

Red Dawn is playing on SPIKE right now.

It occurred to me that this might be a good flic to give to your undecided/liberal friends and acquaintences to serve as an object lesson for firearms rights.

    What do y'all think ??

Has anyone here ever seen this movie? As a kid I watched this movie regularly. I watched it last night and was thinking that an invasion from the south by Mexicans, and Venezuela, and whatever other countries would join, along with the already huge population of illegal aliens already here, they could probably put up a good fight. If our guns were banned, they could for sure. This is purely theoretical, but have any of you thought about this? Very few Americans are gunslingers like us.

The greatest, most realistic survival movie that ever has graced the silver screen. Jeb should be everyone's role model.

A lot of the Siskel and Ebert types around here will say that Red Dawn sucks, but it is still maybe my favorite movie. WOLVERINES!!!!

It won't be a north south type of thing this time and the only reason it will look race related is that over 90% of the blacks will be on the side of Obama.

It will be more of the good people standing up to regain the right's that our Fore Fathers gave us standing up for the Constitution as it was written!

I may be stretching it but the "Russians" really represent our own government turning on us. They (writer and director) just could not get away with that kind of scenario at the peak of the Cold War...

its not like the USSR could really sneak a few dozen heavy paratrooper transports past NORAD...

    I like Red Dawn.
Great action adventure movie. I lived in Colorado for a while and I knew some guys who were just like Patrick Swayze, these were wild * who climbed mountains and who camped out in 30 below zero weather, sleeping in caves they dug in the snow.
These were guys who would have picked up guns and fought Russians.

Loved the movie too. Made you think a little. Poor ole Patric Swayze won't be around much longer. He is about dead with cancer. Shame he was a pretty good actor. I liked Road House. Ok I admitt I even liked Dirty Dancing.

You can find Siskel and Ebert review of RED DAWN from 1984 on YOUTUBE, but be warned Ebert's review will make you vomit.

Why not? The movie almost made me vomit. [:D] I snuck into many many movies at this time as I was a kid and broke. My money all went to the BMX bike I wanted to buy. I must have seen 50 movies the summer this came out and paid for maybe 3.

I walked out of two movies that summer. One was Red Dawn. I kept expecting Bugs Bunny in an Uncle Sam hat to call Duke and Snake Eyes from GI Joe to shoot the Ruskkies and Cubies and then get a Carebear to tag a tank.

I damn near couldn't stomach Top Gun either, but that was only because of all the sweaty guys playing volleyball to make-out music. WTH was up with that, was there a deleted hand-holding scene with Iceman and Mav? Snuck into that one too. Stayed to watch Full Metal Jacket twice though. Remember when you could get way with that?

I admit to liking many movies that have little value other than being fun and Road House is one of them. He actually was a good actor but how he got saddled with some of his roles I'll never know....Next of Kin, Steel Dawn....

Actually they're predicting five North American zones. Mexico and California, Arizona, N.M. are one (may include Colorado) Texas by itself (yeeehaa), The east Coast, the middle american states, and the south east. I can see the others turning on the middle states real fast since we produce 2/3 of our and the worlds food.
Glen Beck was just talking about this last week.
Love Red Dawn, had the VHS, bought the DVD.
