No matter how smart you are, 90% of the board is smarter than you at EVERYTHING.

9mm vs. 45ACP discussions always end with someone's feelings getting hurt, ditto revolver vs. auto, .30-'06 vs. .270, etc.

    Zombie threads are always welcome.

Well, you're not a new member, but ...

Start off with a few simple questions poignant to the topic.

EG: If we are discussing a Ruger .22LR semi-auto pistol, ask if buffer replacement is necessary in any fixed amount of rounds.

EG: Is using lighter .45ACP ammo dictates the replacement of the recoil spring.

I've heard conflicting advice on whether to use a heavier recoil spring with lighter ammo, or a lighter spring with lighter ammo.

Since I keep to 230 grain ammo, FMJ or JHP, it is a mute point.

I sure do like shooting my 1911! [It's a 1991, says Colt. But that's just a cosmetic difference].

And speaking of guns, the H&K USPC9 is smooth as butter, with full loads, compared to the USPC40. The .40 has a greater chamber pressure than the .45ACP load, but when one mentions the .40 vs. the .45, that point does not usually come up. I'm guessing the .45 has less felt recoil than the .40, but, as stated, I'm guessing.

My favorite caliber is .40S&W, in a full grip-sized 1911 platform handgun.

So there! A simple premise to begin a discussion.

Keep it simple. Because simple is far from where it might transgress.

Complicated, and it might circle the moon.
You can be left with no meaningful discusion of the topic on hand.

It would be interesting to know what the survival rate is here at on the GB forums. How long does the average poster stay here posting on the forums. Really old guys like Iconoclast who has been posting here since god was a kid, will tend to skew the results, but it would be interesting to know.

Also, it seems worth while for the benefit of new members, to post that universal truth in gun trading: The one you want to buy is always a very rare collectors item in at least 99% condition. The one you want to sell is always a common, poorly made hunk of junk, I will give you $30 for because I feel sorry for you.
