Are all the drivers in Missoula nuts? Didn't know if I should go through green lights the way they all seemed to run red lights. Just got back from there, what a rat race.

They get even more aggressive the farther south they head down the Bitterroot, too.[B)][}:)]

I know it is against the rules for a Montana car/pickup driver to allow a truck to pass them.

What blows my mind, regardless of what plate is on the car or pickup, is how close they set up shop behind a semi, and when they do actually pass, how close they seem to have to duck in front of them. People like me are definitely in the minority in giving semis the distance and respect they deserve.

having lived in southern illinois-working in st louis missouri.....then moving to missoula county while working, and now ravalli county since retirement. i honestly thought south st louis drivers were in a league of their own, until i got to be around missoula drivers. yep, they are nucking futs, no 2 ways around it. right of way is determined by the one with more dents, and everyone is colorblind. it all looks green light all the time.

I have seen the worst drivers in the country in every state I have driven in. I had the distinction of being the worst driver in England for a week.

Our friends we visited last week have lived there for 40 yrs. They live down by Florence. They both retired last week & are not going to miss the free-for-all on the drive to Missoula every day.

nice area that nearly burned in last year's fires. florence was but a whistlestop town, one stop light and a gas station. high school of 120 students. until the exodus of Missoula people wishing to escape the madness of liberal tax everything city government.
i predict Florence will triple in size within 10 years, as more and more suburban subdivisions sprout up. the only thing stopping it is a lack of area jobs/industry, thus keeping it in the cookie cutter commuter category.

    It is not aggressive driving.

It is just that it is difficult to steer the damn truck when you are putting in a chew and steering with a knee which is also holding your beer from spilling.

We didn't have cup holders back then, and driving was much more difficult.

Sounds like south central PA where the bib overall wearing hillbillies reign supreme.

I'll have you know I can put in a chew and steer without using a knee! Sometimes it just requires a bit of finesse, and I still don't have cup holders.[:D][;)]

Well, they get pretty used to no speed limits being enforced on the freeway and think it extends to no rules being enforced in town.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

My problem in Missoula wasn't aggressive traffic, it's some self-righteous sum-* that wants to scream at me to get out of the pedestrians way when I'm waiting for a parking spot at a supermarket.

The guy was pulling out and some guy slaps my car and tells me I'm in the way of a woman trying to get across the pedestrian zone in front of the main door. Really?? I'm stopped, and going to move in 30 seconds.

Oughta be an open season on Californians moving to Montana to "get away from laws".....they always start passing CA laws as soon as they can get any political traction.
