I was editing some car show photos the other day and came
across something peculiar.
Cool cars have always been a big deal in Southern California.
During the summertime - in these parts - we have a number
of restored antique cars & trucks/street rods/custom cars
and high performance racers weekly auto shows around the
county.
Every Tuesday afternoon (from 5PM-8PM) about 200 cars are
displayed along both sides of the main street ... in a
kind of typical summertime auto-street fair.
It's also a good way to bump into old friends and high
school/college acquaintances that you haven't seen for
a long time.
Well, this Tuesday afternoon/evening's show was no different.
We bumped into an old HS girl friend of mine (Class of '63) and her
husband. I used to race against her hubby - Friday evenings out on
almost deserted Telegraph Canyon Road, back in the day.
I took the first group photo ...
... and the wife took the other two.
The first of the wife's photos was blurred (from a high end Nikon
digital auto camera?) ...
... and the second was framed a little too low!
... makes me wonder! Too much beer? She doesn't like my old girl
friends? Who knows!??
The real bottom line is, how did we get so old, so fast! LOL

Zip, the baby blue ford in the picture, did you buy it new?
LOL ... nope - not mine. I did come across a VW I once
owned and I sold to the current owner (below), who now
displays it at the Tues. CV Car Show.
There is a '57 Chevy Nomad I used to own out at the
El Cajon car show on Thursdays. I see him all the time
out there - he's put about $40K into it - I wouldn't mind
having that one back!
It's this yellow - a classic '67 Bug, as the '67s are
the transition year VW went from the 6 volt to the 12
volt electrical system.
It was actually my brother's bug that he was about to
make into a Baja Bug shortly before he passed away in
2004.
Carlos is an inspector for the city of San Diego and
was once a third grader - in my wife's class - and
showed up one day when I put the bug up for sale a
couple of years ago. He's put a VW muscle engine in
it - but other than that, it's still 'stock as a rock!'
... well, except for the Porsche rims.
right of the Merc actually has a built 348 in it! I was going to hang
around to hear it start up and leave but we left a little too early.
Here's one I'm still thinking about ... I like the off-beat kinda cars
... and this 4sale Avante certainly qualifies.
