This is my second connection with national news. The first was the police officer shot in Dearborn, MI was shot by my secretary's husband's secretary's husband. Sad situation.

I went to high school with Hoffa's grandson, and he now works in my building. He's a good guy, had to put up with a lot of crap growing up. To this day, crazies will call him about his grandfather....

its nice to know that terrorists and other criminals are running around america yet the fbi has 45 officers they can spare on a 40 yr old case where the only remainin suspect is 92 yrs old. its also nice to know that the fbi paid $150,000 to the owner of the farm because they tore down their barn and need to rebuild it.

i dont give a bababooey where jimmy hoffa is. he was a corrupt criminal leader who lived by the sword and died by the sword. he got was he deserved so stop using tax payers to grab headlines....typical FBI

Jgreen, are you from Lake Orion? We used to see him at dinner there
at one of the (small, at the time) town's upscale restaurants.

I don't remember him but occasionally my dad used to say to my mom,
"Oh, there's Jimmy Hoffa". Matter of fact, I think that was the
last place he was seen (at that restaurant).

And your Mom would answer "I wish he'd sit down so that i could see Cary Grant"

I'm too aghast to dare call BS on this one

Hoffa was last seen at some place called the Maccus Red Fox Inn. Might that have been where your parents were dining?

Flying Clay Disk: Well, if that's true, I stand corrected.

We lived in two places in MI - we lived on North Shore Drive
in Lake Orion (1954) and at 1070 Lincoln Court (1955). I
probably have mixed up the places - although, I thought I read
a few years back he was last seen in Lake Orion.

Hoffa was a VERY HIGH PROFILE GUY in those days - usually
traveled around with five or ten union goons - there was
no question who he was or where he was in public.

Yes, I know you're a jerk - but thanks for the reminder every
once in a while. It helps the new guys around here to spot you.

    After 50+ years, I'm surprised I remember anything! LOL[:D][:D]

Yep - didn't show up in Bloomfield Hills - next to Birmingham.
    http://www.crimelibrary.com/notorious_murders/famous/jimmy_hoffa/1.htm

ERGO ... THE LAST PLACE HE WAS SEEN WAS LEAVING HIS HOME IN
    LAKE ORION.

JIMMY HOFFA LIVED IN LAKE ORION, so I guess we did eat at the same
restaurant. At the time Lake Orion was a VERY SMALL summer resort town
    - 3000 during the summer and less than 1000 permanent residents during
    the winter.

Generally, as you see, I have great recall! ... and I never tell lies.[:D]

Hmmm, wonder if it's a case like the joke where an ol boy gets the feds to split his neighbors firewood. Dad needed a new barn.lol

Come to think of it I have a garage/shop combo that I'm almost sure hoffa's buried in the old concrete..or was it hitler..?

    Zipper,

Actually, the last place Jimmy Hoffa was seen was the Red Fox dinner club on the corner of Telegraph and 15 mile (Maple). I guess that's still Birmingham, maybe Bloomfield Hills (believe it changes right at 15 mi).

How do I know this? Because my second oldest sister was working there at the time. I'm not sure if he actually came inside on that particular night, but he did have some people (friends?) waiting for him inside. If memory serves me right he was kidnapped in the parking lot before going inside. He was a regular there. My parents used to live down the road from there. (S of 14 mile between Telegraph and Lahser).

FCD nailed it. SWC of the intersection as a matter of fact. It was early to mid-afternoon when he was last seen. In the movie, "Hoffa", the restaurant is transformed into a rural truck stop. However, this place was a very nice establishment and in the middle of a rather upscale neighborhood.

Zip and Disc- I was raised in Beverly Hills (between Pierce and Greenfield, 13 mile and Beverly Road. My folks live just across 14 mile from Discs! I'm still a Birmingham resident.

Hoffa was indeed a big wheel around here....

Hiya green! Yeah - I was only there two years as a kid but I do get back fairly often to keep up old friendships and to see some good friends in Windsor.

If you read the posts of some of these guys you'll notice they usually don't have a clue as to what they are talking about - they never pass up a chance to try to make a glib remark but for the most part haven't a clue. They can't seem to get enough of themselves but it's their thing, I guess!

I went to Baldwin Elem. School while we lived in Birmingham - it was renowned for a huge indoor banked wooden track that ran above the second floor level of the gym. I've never seen anything like it, before or since! I went back in the 70's to take some photos of it but the school had been town down in the 60's, I guess.
