I dunno if I'd paint a tree on the wall and add a mail box.Seems like the dog only needs a fire plug and he will be going PP all over the place!!

As I recall, one of houses that my parents lived in at some point had a similar arrangement. As I recall though the return vent for the HVAC was also up under there and since the installer chose the old style register (not the newer ones that have the filter at the intake) The vent was FULL of dog hair.
