Stove Question

We are moving from electric to gas stove....I am looking for a doDNWraft for the stove...years ago, we had a Gennaire, and got rid of it...(JUNK)....I need some kind of down draft ...

    I haven't seen that type for years. And, the last ones I saw were the Jenn Air.

    Why do you want a down draft hood system? Most folks use a vented over-the-stove hood that leads to the outside if they have the access; otherwise, they vent into the kitchen.

    I have a bedroom over my kitchen,and a easy way to vent below...

    I never liked D-Draft ranges...They ALWAYS get the house smokey,no matter what U do..

    My parents had a JennAire grill that sucked the smoke into the unit, then it made a 90 degree turn and went through the wall and outside. Not sure what the quality now is, but at that time (1970s) they were quite good.

    I bought two in a space of 6 years...all rusted out at the vent...The only way I can easily vet the new gas rig, is down vent it..???

    The JennAir units are crap. We were grilling steaks on one once (at a rental condo) and literally melted the crappy aluminum grids. oops...


    My MIL has a Thermador. What I like about those is that the down draft is in the back and is adjustable height. If you have a tall pot, jack it up and it will suck the steam right down. The grates are easy to clean. they are not as stout as the grates on my GE but the adjustable doDNWraft height is cool.
