I have been trying for awhile to get my B-I-L involved in the GB forum. He is an excellent guy to have around the forum. I think you will all agree.....IF I can get him registered.

He told me he tried to register a time or two but it didnt work. So I tried to register for him and the following day asked him how it went. He said he hasnt recieved a confirmtion e-mail from GB?? So I asked him to check his spam folder....nothing there.

What are we not doing right or thinking of?

are you registering him on the auction side? Gotta do that first.

He has successfully done that. And even participated a little. Registering for the forums seems quite simple and I have obviously done it before myself....but I cant figure out why it didnt work when I tried to register him.

Background check failed. Is he a communist? Does he have a poster of Hillary Clinton in his garage? Is he hoarding ammo? [:D]

If I understand correctly, he has to register on the forums, which will put his application on the waiting for approval list. Then, he must go to auction support and ask for his account to be activated.

Thank you NUNN. Back ground check failed? Extremely unlikely. He is a 20+ yr veteren of the army, and a 26 yr LEO. Did I mention he is a CPL instructor?

I will pass on the information about waiting for approval. About the other comment........Define "hoarding" He reloads ammo and has several thousand rounds. I am a little jealous when I see all those rounds sitting there. Which just happens to be part of the reason he is interested in GB. Its for the reloading forum.

There is no background check, only a verification process to keep spammers off the forums.

Do you remember the spam we used to get? Well, it is no more, thanks to the new procedure.

When I registered 11-12 years ago, I was registered here long before being registered on the auction side. Did something change?

From what I recall, the yearly dues must be paid in full prior to an account being activated.

Oh, I think he was just teasing.

Well, we need good folks around here --- especially those who know about firearms.

I mean, don't go asking me any technical questions --- I only know where to point the muzzle, and 50% of the time, I get that wrong. [:D]

Tell him NOT to give up!

I guess I should have used the green font. I thought the big smiley face would have tipped you off that I was just joking with you. [:D] We can always use new guys with a good sense of humor.[;)]

I have approved everyone in the list that is a real user. (out of 4000, there were 115 actual people, the rest were spambots.)

You should have seen the spam this site used to get.

No kidding. I used to find the spammers manually and remove them. It took hours out of every day.

Even after we got a bot to detect them, a few got through. Thankfully, with the current system, we get next to no spam on the forums.

    Maybe thats my answer also.

I can Post and Buy, but when I tried to sign up to Sell, I received a message to E-mail Support.

Does Support have to activate my account for selling?

They need to open a support issue on the Auction side. It is a different database and a different registration ...
