Need advice on left-hand ARs.

A friend of mine asked me to keep an eye out for a left-hand AR in .308. He wants to build one, not buy one off the shelf.

Any recommendations as to brands I should point him toward? What is he looking at as far as prices on all the parts needed to assemble one? Thanks.

Good question but I don't think there really are any. I don't believe Stag makes anything in .308. That would be my choice, the 6.8 SPC on the other hand is a whole nother story.

I'm 99% sure there are no lefty AR's in 308 nor are any parts available. I would have had one by now.

I emailed Stage about AR10 Lefty 6 months ago and they said there is plans for one.

Thinking of building a lefty upper in 300 Blackout.

I'll let him know. Thanks for the input, though.[:)]

when I first got into ARs I built a pair, one left and one right so my girls could shoot too. (Both Stags) After the first time at the range, testing them, I found no difference shooting them at all except for the direction I had to go chasing the brass.

Other than an ambi-safety and perhaps a left (or oversized) charging handle I have no problems. Bolt actions on the other hand leave a scar on my left thumb if I forget to wear a glove. Racking the bolt while still holding the stock usually gets me, if I am not used to the gun. I just need to practice more with the dangerous ones.

And 308s need to be built from one manufacturer, the parts are not at all interchangeable like with 5.56. They might fit, but usually won't
