Distance from the rifling

So I'm waiting on a few last pieces of equipment from Hornady. When I get my cases trimmed up and have measured with Hornady's OAL gauge, how far off the rifling should I use as a starting point?

This will be for my DPMS heavy barrel. I heard somewhere, that 0.050 is the general distance to start from out of an auto loader. Anyone here have any knowledge on this?

Is this 5.56? Or .223? If 5.56, my guess is it won't matter--the leade is far too long for it to be a factor.

For auto-loaders load to the recommended OAL for the magazine to feed properly. Most riles like .020-a jamb fit OAL for best accuracy, if that length fits in your magazine all the better.

I think you will find the rifle will be less critical on OAL and more critical on finding the proper load and practicing proper trigger control.
