Wife and I try to live healthy, we have no illness currently each 59 years old, we go to the gym a couple times a week, don't smoke.

I am willing to cover our healthcare expenses out of pocket each year up to say 10K.

What I want is reasonably priced catastrophic coverage so if I have a 200K Hospital bill I don't lose everything I own.

IF they could make that reasonably priced that would be cool.

However currently the Blue Shield I have is 1,000 a month for the wife and I and still has a 6500. deductible each.

Essentially it IS catastrophic care but charges like a no deductible plan.
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

I wouldn't hold my breath expecting any big changes.

Mine went to $900 with a 3k deductible, and only in state coverage. Found another policy for less than $500, 3.7k deductible, and covers all states. Still isn't great, but at least I can kinda afford it, for now.

    Peace

The best is if the federal government gets completely out of the insurance business. They screw up everything they touch Leave me alone and I will be fine. Let the insurance companies and doctors and hospitals work it out. The states can offer guidance as needed.

As long as the government makes you cover for pregnancy and sex change operations the price will keep skyrocketing. As long as Obamacare in particular and the government in general is going to be the 800 pound gorilla in the exam treatment and operating room there is no hope of heathcare costs leveling out.

Prices are going to continue to rise the moon. Care quality is suffering even now as government interference and regulations strangle the life out of the best health care system on the planet.
