Gotcha beat, Antiquedr. My '93 2600i has 193,000 and is still ticking--uses one qt. every 1k miles and just put a water pump in it, but runs fine. Needs its first clutch, though.

To keep food on the table and the wolves from my front door I sold Toyotas from 1980 to 1986. Small pickups were the rage then and you could buy a base 2 wheel drive for $5,998.00 or there 'bouts. Almost daily I would get blown out of the water by a customer that would choose a Mazda B2000 that was equipped with a 5 speed transmission, carpet, sliding rear window, custom wheels, raised white letter tires, rear bumper, stripe package and am-fm radio all included in their SE-5 package instead of buying a Toyota from me that had a 4 speed transmission, no carpet, no rear slider, not even hubcaps, bias-ply tires,no rear bumper, and no radio, for the same amount of money!! I don't ever remember getting one of these little Mazda pickups in on trade because someone didn't like the unit. Toyo-Kogyo made the Mazdas then but now they are based on a Ford Ranger platform. Your little pickup started out as a good little unit, higher quality that nissan, not as high as mitsubitsi or toyota. If this lil pickup has had good care it might not be a bad little pickup,,might come in handy when gas hits 3 bucks a gallon,,,and before I get hammered,,,,I have mended my ways and drive American Made Fords, my 2001 Explorer was made in Missouri,,a Mexican made escort is no better than filling up your shopping cart with Communist Chineese goods at Wal-Mart,,,,

Had my b2300 for 6 years - 121,000 miles - towed a boat and a travel trailer, been places most folks would not take a 4w drive. I'm gonna keep it forever (I hope)never had any problems

That's one way to get rid of a Jennings, but I think he got the better deal.

I had to buy a small pick up back in 99.It came down to Toyota or Nissan because they used timing chains instead of belts. The Nissan was about $2000 cheaper so that is what I bought. Here it is 6 years later and the Nissan has 300,000 miles on it with no problems, and it still looks like a nearly new truck.I would think an older Mazda would do the same if you take care of it.

I have a 1995 B2300 that has 157,000 miles on it. I have taken it places most people would not take a 4 wheel drive and its a 2 wheel drive truck.

It has hauled a boat, motorcycle, travel trailer(15ft) and more gear than you can shake a stick at.

This year I had to have about 2grand worth of work done but that included 4 new tires and shocks.

Other than that I got 130,000 out of the clutch and 120,000 out of the brakes.

Never had any mechanical problems and only one minor electrical problem.

Bottom Line is I LOVE THAT TRUCK , I would buy another in a heartbeat.

JuJu(happy as hell with his mazda)

I had a Datsun pickup back in the 70's. It rusted out so bad in Northern Indiana I had the inside cab floors gel coated (fiberglassed) Then one night going to work, It went to a Ponderosa steak house and caught fire. Wiring under the dash. I did manage to save my lunch and the .357.

Mazda and the Ford Ranger were/are the same truck under a different name. Change the timing belt and run it forever.
