My tour of Yankee land

Been thinking today, I used to live in PA and I learned how to drive a truck running all over the east coast. Going to NYC, New Jersey, New England and all the other places over here used to be so damned easy, loading in Jersey, getting on I-95 amd making a next day delivery in Florida was a normal happening. This traffic used to be a rush, you could drive like a total Richard and nobody noticed, if you weren't agressive you got nowhere. Jumping off the Jersey Pike and getting on I-78 West was a true test of ability because you would purposely go to the furthest righthand toll booth then go for the express lanes just to see if you could make it, hammer down with no turn signal, aim the truck to the left and see how many cars would play chicken. Man that used to be fun!!

How did I do that back then? Jesus man was I nuts? Yesterday I got up at 0300 to get through Balitmore so I wouldn't have to deal with traffic, then I shut down at 1400 at the Maryland and Delaware state line to avoid traffic. This morning up at 0300 to go to Englishtown NJ, then I had to drive 330 miles up here to Vermont, 330 miles of traffic. Jersey Pike to 287 to 87 then cut over on some cow paths to get to Whiting Vermont. Ohh my god, I need Prozak and a bottle of cheap whiskey after that. I found myself driving in the right lane under the speed limit talking to myself asking why I'm here.

I've lost it, my nerves are shot, two trips east inside of 30 days and just think, Inused tondo this every day and loved it! Holy crap.

I'll be better prepared next time, I'll drink more coffee and get myself amped up [:D]

You almost drove close enough to me that I could have hit you with a snowball....though there isn't much snow up around here right now.

Where ever you have to go to from Vermont there isn't an easy route..
    drive safe...

I live a couple towns east of Hooksett.
We don't want nothing but cow paths nor
do we want aggressive truck drivers.

Woodshed, fat fingers on a tiny keyboard, for some reason the 'n' key is hit instead of the space bar and with the ios10 update the page no longer scrolls when typing making it harder to catch typos.

Rong, cowpaths are fine, we can handle those and I'm no longer in my 20s, when traffic starts getting heavy I get in the right lane and drive slower than traffic. You should see me going through Boise at 45mph in the right lane. I hate traffic anymore and refuse to even try to move with it, make 'em pass is the way I roll.

And to make matters worse the Subaru has an Obama or Bernie sticker on the rear bumper. Having to look at that while stuck behind them really does not make my day.

Wonder what us control freaks are gonna do when all the cars on the road are self driven?[:0]

I started my driving life at 16 with the wind in my hair and the BIG FREEDOM of the open road stretching out before me.

Now the wind has blown out most of my hair and the only freedom I can find dwelleth within my humble abode! [:(]

Just so nobody takes that post wrong, it was just me thinking back to when I was young and a tad crazy. Nowadays I just sit back and watch the traffic and wonder how in the hell I drove like that and it never bothered me. East coast driving, when in Rome.......

BTW, speaking of driving skills from the area of superiority [:D] Pay attention to the TV the next couple of days for some excellent entertainment from our southern friends [:D][:D][:D]

Good for you BSR, for 10 years I drove from
Deerfield,nh to Sudbury ,Mass. Starting at 2am
to meet my 4am work schedule. More times than I can count
Haulers would block the whole damn road or sneak up on you
and ride my bumper until I moved. The State police
    weren't much better.

I learned that lesson some years ago - I was towing a Willys pickup I bought from NJ down to Maryland on I95. Cruised just under the speed limit in the right lane the whole way. Most relaxing drive on 95 I've ever had. I could go for ten or fifteen minutes without touching my brakes.

Its too competitive on the road today...

Looking back to 1970 when they opened route 80 in NJ. There was soo little traffic we used to drag race and no one was on the road at all.

My my how things have changed

Used to have to daily commute on 87 and 287. I do not miss that one little bit. 23-25 years was plenty for me.

Thank God I made it out alive, and back down to the great State of Tennessee.

Glad you got time to relax before the nightmare of north Jersey. That is enough to make you want to commit suicide[;)]. That and all the left lane Richards. I think I would have to run a few of them over. Damn people in NJ don't realize, that on a three lane road, the middle lane is the truckers passing lane..[}:)][}:)][}:)] Be safe on the flip side and get home safe to them girls. Oak
