Indoor range incident....

I just heard that some guy went to the local indoor gun range and committed suicide. I have no idea what was going on with the guy, but it's terrible that this happened. As soon as I get an update or link I'll post it.

Keep the owners and the guys family in your thoughts.

There is one indoor in our city. About once a year someone goes there, rents a gun, then puts a bullet in their head. Its not as uncommon as one might think.

The ranges have adopted new policies for rentals. If you rent a gun, there must be at least two people in your party.

That doesn't guarantee anything. I saw a story about a mother and son who went to an indoor range. Mom shot son and then herself.

When I went and rented the machine guns in West Yellowstone I was accompanied by one of the range workers and he stood right behind me the entire time. I also noticed that in the other range room where folks was trying out handguns there was range workers in there with them too.

We had one in Boise, about a year ago. Went to indoor range, rented a gun, committed suicide.

I saw a post on their FB that the police are treating this as a intentional self inflicted gunshot. I think it is pretty obvious that this was no accident. The guy was a regular customer with no "problems"that they were aware of.

I just hate it for the owners and the customers that were there. There are cameras in the range area and monitors in the gun shop area. There were numerous witnesses.

Had a couple of them here a few years back. The gunshop owner was pissed because he had just replaced the carpeting when the second guy shot himself.

A guy walked into a pawn shop in Phoenix, and asked to see skil saws. He expressed an interest in one in particular, and wanted to see that it worked. An employee plugged it in for him, he turned it on, rocked the guard back, and sank the blade right into his neck.

I believe the proprietor chose to re-tile the floor in the entire area.

I had a call about a car blocking traffic (many years ago) and when I arrived the guy was dead. He had went into a gun shop and bought the gun and box of ammo, backed out of his parking place into traffic and shot himself. Just one of MANY 'sideways' calls I handled/witnessed in 30 + years of street work. I am sorry to see this happen at the ranges, bad press!!![xx(]

    Last week.
Don't know if the robber knew he was committing suicide or not. I suspect he did.

Of course it doesn't guarantee anything, but it has cut, way down, the number of suicides. I do recall the mother & son story.

Local range has had several here as well over the years. But when someone wants to kill themselves, they will find a way. Guy chained himself to suitcase full of weights and went into a lake....another pulled up behind an 18 wheeler at a light, got out, and put his head under the tires. Most of the time the people who are serious never give any warning signs.

A sign might be if the person steps up and asks how much to rent a gun and buy 1 bullet.

Brother-in-law told me the story of a guy who successfully decapitated himself in Lakeport Ca a few years ago.

Oh my goodness, will he be alright?
