Wife has a 2001 Sable. Not getting any heat into the cabin of the vehicle. Changed out the thermostat yesterday and refilled the fluid, still no heat? What should I look at next?
Thanks for any help!

Collapsed heater hose or plugged heater core????????? No,I am not a Ford mechanic.I have just owned a lot of old beaters.Have seen seen hose or heater core cause this problem.Sometimes the hose appears normal but is swelled on the inside restricting flow. Also,I would try reverse flushing the core.

it is without a doubt the left side rear shackle and the #3 spark plug causing your troubles.

pull the end the heater hose off one at the time and check for flow,

As I had one years back, look for an actuator valve on one of the heater hoses. May be stuck in the closed position. You can disconnect it for the winter and make a more permanent fix next spring.

sounds like a heater controll valve. follow your heater hoses to the firewall, and you should find it. It most likely will have, or is
suposed to have a vacume line attatched to it. Pinch of the heater hose so you don't lose your coolant, and remove it from the front side of the valve, with the heater on you should have coolant comeing out of the valve. ( do this when the engine is cold) on some old beaters I have replaced the heater controll valve with a ball
valve from the hardware store, it just requires you to open the hood to turn on the heater. ( but in all honesty, I could have never
gotten away with that on anything my wife drives) Good luck.

lots of things to look for

    vaccum hose off

    heater control mod

Correct. I love the automotive advice on these forums. Everything that has happened ever to a vehicle owned by one of us will be thrown out as something to check.

In all seriousness though it is the crankshaft sensor.

it always makes me laugh to read these types of threads. on rare occasions, the problem is fairly simple and easy to diagnose with a very high degree of accuracy and that consensus reflects this.

most times though, the op gets the phone book of possible solutions, each stated with 100% certainty that the poster has identified the problem and all other solutions are flat out wrong. its like the prison yard. everybodys right, nobody backs down, and it ends in disaster.

i have a mechanic i trust. he has years of experience and all sorts of fancy tools. if its something stupid that takes him 5 minutes to fix, i owe him a few beers. if he has to take it into the shop and tear into it, i pay him. it works out a whole lot better than random parts changing at the insistence of an anonymous stranger who has no skin in the game.

Glad I could help, but if you don't want the problem to return you need to replace the parking pawl in the transmission and the second most rearward exhaust hanger. Otherwise, you're destined for trouble.

Do easiest, cheapest possibilities first like checking differential ring gear wear pattern.

it is a plugged heater core. un-plugged many of them on fords. dont know why they plug up so bad on fords. i have a special tool that hooks up to a water hose and then compressed air. cleans them out real good and quick.

I've got Scotty working on the warp core and rerouting the ion flux thru the main deflector dish, if that doesn't work, I will set the self destruct and evacuate the cabin.

Some cars have what's called a "sun load sensor" under the dash pad.

If the sensor is bad, you won't get heat.

Heater core is most certainly plugged, especially if it has the 12 valve 3.0. Bad news is the entire dash has to be removed to replace the heater core.

A gun or hammer should be employed somewhere in the repair process
