Hot or not?

MVC-001F.jpg

This is my boy Travis, shortly after he arrived home for the weekend. I always thought he was beautiful when he was little, but he has turned into a handsome young man.

MVC-002F.jpg

He will turn 19 in June.

Well, damn. You should send that picture to a Hollywood casting agent. Or a NY modeling agency. He can probably find work when his hitch is up.

Just needs a tad more time in the gym to make the arms pop a bit.

Yes, many thanks to him for his service to his country.

He isn't flexed here. He has a nice set of arms on him. Actually, he was in really good shape before he left for the Army, except for running. He was a little heavier, but the running took the excess lard off and toughened him up a lot.

And...I respect him as a man, but he is still my boy and I am still Dad.

    Sorry, this is nunn.

David, that young soldier/man looks nothing like the boy I remember seeing at your home. Yes, his face looks slightly the same, but that is about it. Give him a big salute from me, and shake his hand for me. If I were well enough, I would drive out there and do it myself.

Way to go Travis! You make us all proud! Be the kind of man your dad raised you to be.

    Always in my prayers,

    Danny

My little guy is just 9 now...eveyone tells me things like "he is SO cute" and "you are gonna be in trouble when HE gets bigger." I look at your son and I see what eveyone is telling me. I will just freak out when he gets that age if its as hard as it seems. I worry about girls getting too serious while he is still trying to figure things out...and about being able to get my son on some kind of route that leads him into being able to be happy and support his needs and the needs of a family one day. It looks like you are doing a good job with all of this and your son....congratulations...and I may have a few questions in about ten years.

Travis has orders to buy a pair or two for me. I don't care for the BDU style shirt, but the pants are way comfortable and the pockets come in handy.

Fine looking young man there Nunn.
How'd he do with his M16 qualification? I recall you were trying to get him some trigger time before he left.

He qualified Expert with the M16. He liked it better than the M4, with which he only shot Marksman.

Good looking young man/soldier, Nunn. You have reason to be proud. Be sure and tell him this old vet says, "thanks!", too.
LF, you also have a cute kid, better keep a close eye on him as he gets older[;)]

most of the shirts are the same material as the one your son is wearing,..it is just that particular one (under armor)is a bit better when you have to wear your vest and all the other $#!+,. they cost more,. but they are worth it in hot weather,..you should try one under your vest / uniform, they come in all kinds of colors.

the boots are the bigest chuck of $$$ to part with,(almost the same cost as two sets of ACUs).. but the Belleville boots feel like sneakers. i still wear the ones i was issued when i was in Baghdad for everything from range trips to hiking(cant wear them in uniform anymore because of a small hole in the canvas sideing)

as for the ACU,. it has all kinds of neat stuff built into it,.. i love the design of the new pockets,. they are so much easier to get into,.. the built in compartments for knee and elbow pads (huge diffrence in a hot enviroment where the old style pads that would cut off air flow and circulation) and everything is velcro,.. so you spend maybe 20 bucks once to get all the patches and nametapes you need,. as opposed to spending 20-30 bucks to get all the same stuff sewn on for each new uniform for the BDUs.

i love the "wash and wear" (dont have to iron or startch them like the the BDUs) and "no shine boots" plus they feel like pajammas when you wear them

it is really a great uniform,..i just dont like the color,. as i have yet to find something i blend in with while wearing them.(wearing BDUs you look like poopy smeared onto a tree trunk,..DCUs you look like a pile of sand with a face,..ACUs are suppose to be universal.)

have you seen his PT uniform yet? my stepfather trys to steal my PT jacket everytime he sees it,. i may just have to break down and buy him one of his own soon.
