Prayers requested update

Just got word from my sister tonight that my cousins husband Dennis has been diagnosed with what is commonly known as "mad cow" disease. It is possible it is also a degenerative disease of the frontal lobe but there is no treatment for either.
His life expectancy is less than a year but the speed at which this is progressing, it is not likely he will make it 6 months.
My cousin asked that we change our prayers from miraculous recovery to praying for reduction in his suffering through his last days. I am sure she could use some prayers for strength and courage as well. These upcoming months will be a test for the whole family.
Edited for some clarity.
CJD is different from Mad cow
Classic CJD is a human prion disease. It is a neurodegenerative disorder with characteristic clinical and diagnostic features. This disease is rapidly progressive and always fatal. Infection with this disease leads to death usually within 1 year of onset of illness.
My thanks,
Jim
My cousins husband, Dennis, has passed away. It was only a little over 4 months since his diagnosis in late July. I wish to thank you all for the prayers and good thoughts as they were a blessing to me and my family. We will be gathering Friday and Saturday near Appleton WI to remember Dennis.

Prayers that your cousin and family will find the strength to help him as he travels this last path.
If you can't feel the music; it's only pink noise!
This human body is a frail thing. Only by the grace of God do we even live to see adulthood.
But, He is willing to welcome us home if we just ask.
My heart goes out to his family because Ive seen what these illnesses do to a once strong man.
Be there for them as much as you are able.
Waco I have no clue how this was contracted .
Jltrent, It isn't actually MadCow that he has. I suspect if it was then we would see it on the news. It is similar and is a one in a million shot at getting this infection. As far as we have been told, there is no recovery from this.
That is a bad way to go, do they know how he became infected with the prion's that cause CDJ?
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
were the professionals able to give any idea as to where/how he may have contracted it?

I have not heard of any reason/origin yet. Maybe I'll hear something this weekend but it is possible I may never know.
