Something that KILLS ME....not doing ALL of a job

It never fails around here....someone will "load the dishwasher" or "take out the garbage".....but they do this partial mess that means someone (always me) has to come behind and finish things.

Its a pet peeve and I guess I should be happy someone does any part of things.....but I swear it drives me NUTS when I go in the kitchen after someone has loaded the dishwasher and its still a mess in there. The machine isn't running....a few dishes in the sink....counters have crumbs....the stove top has spills.....but someone put 80% of the dishes in the machine, so that counts......(no it doesn't.)

Same for garbage. You would think the big can in the kitchen had some portal that magically transports all the garbage from all of the other cans. I've seen them take out the garbage and leave things sitting right next to the one and only can they take out.

Its crazy. I wonder about these people I live with sometimes.

Kasey, Donna just said the same thing to me and Chris. She is right. We men get lazy about some stuff, after working all day. I told her, that is no excuse, since she works too and does ALL the house work and yard work. I finally started helping her and now understand what she is b!tching about. Trying to get Chris to help is like trying to take the crown off of King Obama's head[;)] Laziest person I ever met. I have no idea how a woman works all day, comes home and makes dinner, then cleans and does wash and so on. I promised her that this year was going to be a new start and I would help her everyday. So far, it has been a PIA, but I have been helping. Been doing housework since 8:30 this morning and now I am taking a break. This husband chit, sucks[;)][:D]. I liked it better when I lived alone and had twenty empty cases of beer and forty pizza boxes piled up in the corner. Ah, the good ol days[^]. They are long gone. [V] Oakie

I might get her to move in over here and see if she can't jump start this operation and get it headed in the right direction! [:D][:D][:D]

After dang near 43 years of marriage my spouse and I have this system.

I do most of the weekend and summer cooking and make sure I clean up my kitchen or grill messes pronto after prep.

The after meal messes are only policed up and left overs put away by me. The Mrs. is usually sleeping on the couch.

I will soak a pan or rinse off sticky dishes and leave everything in the sink.

She tends the mess to the dishwasher in the early AM.

Garbage is my detail and I go extra measure to ensure all is gathered and in the dumpster outside before a household trash can is over flowing.

I have the weekly duty to make sure all is out at the curb on trash pick up day.

I do not do laundry, but do put my dirties in the hamper. I also don't do any kind of house hold dusting. I can run a vacuum cleaner and do most of the basement clean up as that is my man cave.

So far, she hasn't replaced me with a newer model yet![:I]

    i feel your pain

taking out the garbage does not require putting in a fresh bag evidently

leaving trash beside the can is optional, i think the one and only single time my oldest did pick up something next to the can was a nib satellite dish i scoured for and paid 150.00 because it had a four head lnb , it was 3 feet from the can, i guess i should have moved it closer

washing your clothes does not require removing them from the dryer, just turn it on 20 minutes each time you need an outfit

rinse out dishes ? HA its better to let things turn to concrete then soak them later

try dropping a paper towel on the floor smack dab in the middle of a walkway and see how long it stays there

    And there it is!
My Dad hammered it into me, and I've done the same with my boys, "Any job worth doing, is worth doing right the first time". If "you" didn't think it was worth doing, you will re-do it until you get it right.
Kids of my ex-wife, used to do the exact same thing. Just do it half azzed, and Mom will finish it up. I would wait until they were going to hang with friends, play video games, etc, then tell them that was only going to happen when their chore was "complete".

    I guess I am a real plick.

When the kids lived here they learned the hard way if do it half * then you do it over and over and over and over and over again ad nauseam.
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

Just me and the dogs, these days. They are a great help, and I have them trained well. If I am cooking, and drop food on the floor, they clean it right up for me.

    Peace

my kids got real tired of getting awoke in the middle of the nite to come back downstairs and pick up clothes or bathmats or plates and glasses. They do pretty well and are really a big help.

My tribe now fears the 4:45am wake up to finish chores they didn't do. Things are a lot better.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

The last child that lives here is gone more than he is here. Most days he leaves the house for work by 6am.....when I'm finally done with my work and think to go find him to give him something to do I find he is already asleep. I know the girls turned out fine because when they moved out their houses are pretty tidy. For the most part my issues with chores are geared toward Larry. He helps....and there are a few things around here that I count as totally HIS to take care of....replacing outdoor bulbs, fixing the latch on the gate, anything that involves a tool. Its just that "his" things come around once in a blue moon and the mess I constantly deal with is a non stop daily event around here.

When I was 7 years old, I threw a snow shovel over my shoulder and went out to earn some cash. I charged two dollars. The first walk I did, I just scooped the width of the shovel and went back to the front door to collect.

The kindly gent at the door told me that he'd pay ONE dollar for that job, but if I applied myself and finished the job, I would get the whole pay. So I did.

It was a terrific life lesson and beautifully taught.

Funny how sometimes a neighbor can get through to you even when your parents can't.
