ho hum...looks good but I think there are enough AR type rifles on the shelves already. Plus, everybody in the country is building their own lowers.
Why don't they jump way out in front and build an affordable semi-auto 50 cal, that can be shoulder fired and weighs under 15 lbs?

'Cause their cast receivers would blow up like the space shuttle.

I was really hoping for something else from Ruger. Oh well I guess.

Doug, I respect your opinion, but I think you need to let this one go. Ruger recievers are built like tanks.

quote:Old Rugers, yes. However, take a look at the current production 10/22's for example and then try to say that. Plastic everywhere except where absolutely necessary. They have officially ruined the 10/22. [V]

Ruger has been spinning in the bowl for the last 8-10 years (recalls of virtually all new models released in the past four years). If they keep up their poor quality and corner cutting, that bowl will finally flush down the drain. Bill Ruger is already spinning in his grave. [:(]

Completely agree with you on what they have done to the 10/22. Very nice and proven little rifle with an affordable price tag and they are now "cheapening" it up. Very discouraging indeed.[V]

I guess when I read Doug's post, the immediate(and only) thing that came to mind were their M77 series rifles. They IMO are built very well and I hope they don't go downhill as well. I have not gotten to take a real good look at, or fire a new Hawkeye yet.

    I'm in! [:)] [:D] [8D]
    $1995 is just retail.
It will probably wind up to be about $1600, which isn't bad with all the extras.

    Yay, another AR type rifle[:o)]

You can get a SIG, or a Rock River in that price range.[;)]

I'd rather see a stainless Ruger version of an M1A. That or a stainless
    FAL rifle.

the rugers that i have are great. never had a ruger i didnt like. some may be ugly but all are accurate and dependable.

the 5,56 is great if you like to plink targets but i would never trust them for protection.

if ruger made this rifle in 7,62x39 id be on it like stink on poop

I wonder if it boasts the legendary Mini-14 accuracy.
