I was having a day today. Not really a bad day, just a blah, low-on-motivation day. We had entertained Young and Dum and his loverly missus yesterday. Loaded some ammo. Shot some handguns. Barbecued some brats. Just a nice Sunday that left me tired and happy. Then I just couldn't get motivated today. All I wanted to do is play with my guns.
So I did what I do when I feel like playing with guns, but don't have time to get to the range: I went a half a block down the street to Ye Olde Gun Shoppe and fondled a couple of decent firearms. One of which was a nearly new (looking) four-inch Security Six for $250.
When I got home, I mentioned, in an off-hand sort of way that "Boy Bob, down at the gun shop had a good deal on a little Ruger."
The wife looked at me and said, "Do you want your birthday present early this year? Because I've been putting that ten dollars a paycheck back for you that you wanted me to save, and you've got that in the bank"
I think I said, "Bub-bwahaddaa-humina-uh....."
And she said, "I'll go get the checkbook".
So I bought that sweet little .357 and I'm going to go shoot tomorrow.
If I ever post anything less than flattering about my wife, you folks may (as rudely as you want) remind me of this post.
