Reduce Recoil

I have a NEF single shot 12 guage that I like to shoot, but after just a few rounds, my shoulder gets pretty sore. I am going to wear more layers to help reduce the recoil, but could you guys suggest a recoil pad or something to reduce recoil. Please only suggest things that are less than $50 and that can be easily put on the gun. I don't want to have to modify it.

There are two easy options.
If LOP isn't an issue, put on a recoil slip on pad.

OR you can buy a shoulder pad, that is basically a pad with a strap, used for skeeting.

Add a pound of lead to the buttstock and as much lead as you can to the forend (1/2 pound minimum, a full pound would be better).
Find some 1ox "lite" ammo
Crappy stock design, light weight, and high weight/high velocity ammo all contribute to increased recoil.

I had the same problem with my H&R 12 ga. single shot! I took off the barrel and borrowed a friend of mine's milling machine and drilled 10- 1/8" holes 45 degrees off top center on each side of the barrel a 1/4 inch apart about 3 inches back from the end of the barrel, kind of a home made recoil reducer. Makes a big difference, i could only shoot 5 or 6 rounds before, now i can shoot a whole box and it doesn't bother me.

Sorry I went over budget, but this combo is great for reducing the felt recoil
