To lone wolf killers like the ones we have seen lately? Motivation seems to run the gamut from certifiable looney-tunes nut cases to Islamic Terrorists; little seems to be in common with the perps except for the result of folks dying , shot like targets at a range.

Arming folks does not seem to work either some MORON in Lancaster OH shot a hole in the pavement outside a Military Recruiting office last evening. They were told to never come back, can't blame the property owner for booting them out.

I don't see a fix, do you?

There is a problem but is there a way to fix it? Gun bans won't work, someone hell bent on hurting people will get a gun or other means to do it. Background checks? Again, won't stop the determined. Arming folks who thinks owning a gun or two and shoots paper at the range qualifies them to act as "security"? Nope, common semse does not follow gun ownership. Would you feel any safer knowing that there may be a hundred people in a theater with you carrying guns amd 90 of them don't know how to defensivly use it? Should defensive gun training be mandatory? We all know the liberals answer but we know it won't work.

Well, yes there is. Arrest the perp, then make sure they're tried, convicted, and executed within 9 months max., three would be better. All this crap about mental illness is horse hockey for the most part. These weirdos act out because they know they can with no penalty. If they know that they WILL be dead in a few months, they will quit acting out. That will cure 95% of that crap.

A true fix? Not with the U.S. Constitution intact.

Some will always take advantage of freedom and liberty. We have the choice of staying relatively free, or trying to implement plans that will eliminate our freedom to put ourselves in a position to injure others.

Obviously the vast majority of folks here have exercised those freedoms necessary to put ourselves in the position to injure others. I do not wish to see those freedoms eliminated.
Freedom and a submissive populace cannot co-exist.

let's weigh this on the Scales of Justice.

one loony takes advantage of the freedom and liberty that has been granted to him. that's fine, the laws we have are for exactly such instances.

and it happens a few more times.

and then all the rest of us are asked to give up our freedom and liberty, as if we might be as guilty as the loonies??? all 320,000,000 of us?

    that would be an INJUSTICE.

it's beyond ridiculous and the obvious answer is NO.

if you want more prevention, the answer is more deterrent, not any abrogation of rights. increase the penalty.

there are always going to be nut cases, psycopaths, sociopaths, loonies, fruitcakes, terrorists and criminals.

even if all the guns in the world are banned and disposed of, the military and police will have them, and guns will find their way into the hands of (any of the above) no matter what.

so again we would find that the answer still is to increase the penalty, even if guns are gone and rights annulled. therefore it was wrong to do that in the first place.

One of the vulnerabilities of an open society. I do not want to see armed guards with sub machine guns at the entrance of every store, mall, church or school like you see in Israel.

The family tried to get him mental help.

I think we need to look at opening up looney bins again. Mental institutions had there place and probably (prolly) saved a lot of murders.
