If he has an original buttplate, why didn't he put it on?

Before I looked at the current bid I was going to say reserve at 5,000.00
I couldn't imagine it being any higher than 6,000.00

Cartod, want to check 6,000.00 and see if I'm right?[:o)]

yeah the a-5's are typically a little proud on the wood side but the varnish is edged a little across the top tang

having the original butplate does no good on this one as the stock was cut straight and it could never go back on right. A pachmeyer but pad is the thing that really hurts the value of this gun. I would never have guessed someone would bid this high and yet not reach reserve.

the grade 5 I saw before had an oil/satin finish

Check out the Initial plate on the butt stock. It might be Adolf Hitlers old A-5

Did I mention the typical forearm crack in pic 10, and that I hate the higloss finish of a browning.[8D] Shoulda sold it at no reserve.

I thought you were a a-5 guy? anyway I don't see the crack but I see the grain where one could start. one time shooting it without the mag cap tight will split it. course I am not in the habit of shooting 80 year old mint guns. got newer ones to take to the field

I like A-5's. I just hate a hi gloss finish and a forearm crack....and oh yea did I mention hating a polychoke. A5 are cool but they cracked too easy and most of the stocks were cut and fit with a maxi pad..[:o)]
