I do like Pizzia, I like Mellow Mushroom for commercial pizza, pesto base, with meat and green peppers, onions, cheeses. Yum

I really like Upstate NY that white pizzia, just thin crust and cheese, Parmesaean, Romano, and ?

Round Table, (never been there, and don't know their pizza) just closed all 7 of their stores in Boise. They just left a note on the door for employees and customers. They sound like a real hoot to work for.

I like thin crust supreme. The best place locally is Pizza Hut. Best nearby is Caseys General Store. Big fan of Godfathers which we don't have aroud here anymore. Best pizza I ever had was Hot Z's in Landcaster Pa.

Godfather's was great until they sold it to betty crocker. that was mebbe 25 years ago. it aint as good as it used to be, hasn't been for a long time.

thin crust or thick "pan" style is just a matter of preference, either one won't do it if the dough isn't right. it's all in the dough.

but what really makes a pizza is the pizza sauce. you can have a so-so crust and toppings, but if you have good sauce and the right amount of it, that pulls it through every time.

Omaha is a pizza town. they have a few pizzas I'd rate as "good", like Godfather's, Johnny Sortino's, Mama's Pizza, Zio's Pizza. Big Fred's I would say is "great" but it's been a while and Phil runs the place now so I can't say if the quality has slipped or not. but, quality still there or not, that's the only real, italian, full-service pizza restaurant I've seen anywhere. they know their pizzas. and spaghetti, mastaccoli, salads and garlic bread.

Dallas is not a pizza town. there was one place I found that was ok, I think it was called Egyptian Pizza? it was some weird oval shaped thing.

St. Louis isn't really pizza either. I'm not happy with anything I've found here. Imo's pizza? gimme a break.

so, I suppose, if you want a good pizza, they're in omaha.

I haven't found really fantastic pizza anywhere.

what kind of pizza would I like? flat crust, oven baked with corn meal, enough pizza sauce, 2/3 hamburger and 1/3 sausage mixed, black olives, mushrooms, and plenty of mozzarella cheese.

Buschmaster- You have to try Amighetti's, 5141 Wilson Ave, Saint Louis, MO 63110 and also Rich and Charlies pasta house (I like the one out by Six Flaggs).

Neither are Pizza, but R & C has the best salad on earth, and the linguini with white clam sauce is devine. Amighetti's makes a mind blowing sub sandwich (their "special") as well as other fine things to carry out.

Agatocci's in Peoria, IL. I had my first bite of pizza there in '56. I make it a point to stop by when ever I am headed west out of Indy.

Piazza is a lot like BBQ as there is almost no bad piazza, just some is better than others. Just hard to try them all and make a determination.

    +10 Second vote on Beaujos!

A very, very, close second is a place called Pizza Papalis in Detroit at Greek Town.

edit: Of course the absolute best pizza I've ever had, hands down, was at a place I can't remember the name of. It was this seedy bar down the road from a steel mill where a bunch of mafioso hung out. The neon sign outside (only half lit) just said..."Pies". Man did I get a stare down walkin' into that joint. The whole place went kinda silent. I used to love going into places like this (crazy, I know). Sat down at a table all by myself and ate that whole pie; MAN was that good! I think Mama Corleone herself made that pie.

i thought this was about PIZZA..not PIES [;)] i cant imagine only having a pizza the size of a pie plate [V][:D][:D]

Yeah, asop. I think it opened in the '40's - really built from a family home I believe. When I turned 16 and had a car my buds showed me what a pizza was. For some reason mom & dad never had any for us kids. I wandered in about 15 years ago one late afternoon, sat at the bar, ordered a beer & large pizza. Jerry, one of the brother/owners bet me a beer I couldn't eat the whole thing myself. He paid-up about 40 min later!

I've been in Indy for 45 years now but I still stop by whenever I head west. I grew up in Peoria but went to school in Madison. Small world indeed. I went to Pizzons (sp ?) a lot back in the late '50's - Brathouse too in Madison.
It's too late for me, save yourself.
