The guy who rescued her was family, looked like a grandpa maybe. Seal was probably just playing. Or it wanted to eat her. Thing is, it's a wild animal, they do wild animal things.

It never ceases to amaze me how naive people are about wild animals. Some people always seem to think that a wild animal up close is their friend.

That guy is a hero. He didn't hesitate one second, he jumped in and grabbed that girl. Probably saved her life.

I don't know what sea lions eat but I guess they eat fish mostly.

A few years ago a little boy was wading in the pond at Disney World.
A 7 foot gator grabbed him and pulled him under.
They found the little boy the next day, the gator didn't eat him.
If someone had been close enough to grab that gator the instant he grabbed the boy, I bet the boy would have been saved.

Lane's father Matt did attempt to save the boy right as he was snatched. He was however overpowered by the 7 foot gator and the gator went for deep water. Gators stash their kill to let them rot since they cannot chew.

The park was negligent, folks from Omaha have no idea what these things can do.

When I am at Moms we regularly see tail drags of some really large ones coming up from the bay into the lagoons.

I went snorkeling with Sea Lions in the Galapagos Islands in 1990.

The females are extremely friendly but the males are to be avoided. As I tried to get some pix for my travel story I went deeper to get an upward angle and suddenly things got very dark. I looked up and a huge male was over me just looking at me. He just moved on but there was that moment in my mind.
They told us afterwards this channel is favorite spot for great whites and Orcas to come through and feed on the Sea Lions. yeah, after wards you tell us.

Seals are not near as friendly.
There is a no touching rule in the Galapagos but the female Sea Lions are constantly giving kisses to you feet or legs and one stole a girl's sun glasses and I wouldn't have believed it if I had not seen it the guide scolded them (They were playing keep away, 3 of them) and the Sea Lion reached up and gave the sun glasses back
