You have to see this truck!! Some dumba&& decided to steel a skid steer this morning from a construction site. After a police pursuit and shooting...neither he or his truck made out too well.

although they didn't mention it in the story the guy shut down the morning trafic on I-76. Not only did he attemtp to steel it, but it would seem that he tried doing it in daylight durring the morning rushhour.

bobcat is a brand name http://www.bobcat.com/products/ssl/index.html. Skid steer is a general name cause that is how they are operated. We have a New Holland so it is referred to as skid steer.

Spryor, you noticed the same thing as I did. The reporter converted a bobcat to a backhoe. Both have a lot of steel to steal. Skid-steer refers to the method controlling or steering the machine by means of braking the wheels on one side of the machine or the other while at the same maintaining power on the opposite side, thus resulting in a change of direction of the machine.

Around here, construction heavy equipment theft is rampant. Most of the equipment goes overseas, to South and Central America. A lot of owners and even the lending banks install Lo-Jack on them. Many have been found in containers, ready to be loaded on a ship in the Port of Miami.
