Take good care of your buddy, and enjoy him, and find time for him. We have one on Vetprofin(sp?) and Tramadol @ 50$/month. She's going on 13, and getting pretty slow.

Good looking doggie. My Sparky passed away on Thanksgiving day, now I don't have a dog.

As a fellow dog lover I don't want you to take this wrong but, your best friends nails appear to be way too long and could be a source of pain when he walks.

I know you love your best friend and want what's best for him.

There are scads of google articles about how important nail grooming is to pet well being .

I have to take my dog to the vet and have her sedated when her nails need trimming. Costs me 60 bucks each trip but that's the only way anyone (even me) can mess with her feet without a fight.

They are Heaven's little gifts. They remind us daily and demonstrate what unconditional love looks like and that its possible. Enjoy them while you can.

You're right about his nails. I did let them go but they are trimmed now. That pic is a few weeks old. Zeke has no problem with me cutting his nails. Zeke says thanks for your concern[:D]

Like you, I have an ancient pup. Mine is a small yellow Lab going on 18 years old. She hobbles a lot when she walks, but she still manages to patrol my property, looking for cat poop and deer poop to eat (her favorite treats as long as I've had her). She has always been an outside dog and has a 22-foot kennel connected to one of my machine sheds, where she has a heavily insulated "heat box" with a heat lamp on a thermostat. She curls up in there and one of my cats sleeps right on top of her every night. Knowing she ain't gettin' any younger, last fall I dug a grave for her to avoid the frozen-ground problems of a winter burial in Minnesota. So far, she shows no inclination to use it. She's a canine version of the Energizer Bunny.[:D] Gotta love those old pets.

Mine are both laying next to me as I type.
