Jeep Renegade II update with mpg

UPDATE: I'm getting 26.1 mpg after a week of driving. That's pretty decent in my opinion.
I snapped a better picture of my new-to-me Jeep Renegade.
I'm still getting used to the controls and where everything is. I'm getting 24 mpg so far. That's not bad with all the errands and idling I've done with it. It has a "cornering light" feature that freaked me out the 1st night I drove home from work.

Fiat yellow...

Mike
I see what you did there. [:D]
Jon
I like the color.
Thanks.
Jon
That looks like a nice small Crossover, are they 4x4?
I had a 1971 Jeep Renegade CJ5, man I wish I still had it. It was green and made by Kaiser with a Buick engine.

They make them both ways, but mine is 4x4. They are actually AWD, but you can lock it in 4WD too.
Jon
Steelers fan??
No sir, but it would be a good color for one!
Jon
i like that yellow[8D][8D]
It's definitely a love-hate color.
Jon
A twisty knob with icons???

Do you mean it will normally run like 80/20 (front/rear) and when you lock it into 4wd it goes to 50/50 on power distribution? Is it a transverse mounted engine which is primarily front wheel drive?
Looks nice Jon. You get the auto or stick?
This one is auto. This was the only used one they had on the lot when I looked.
They had both auto and stick on the new lot.

Essentially yes. I'm not 100% sure on the exact distribution.

Yep. You can twist the knob to Snow, Sand, or Mud mode. You can also just push the 4WD lock button in the middle of the knob.
The top model, the Trailhawk, is also 4WD Low capable.

My 1975 Dodge Power Wagon is like that. It is full time 4x4 then you lock the differential in the x-fer case(NP203) this locks it up 50-50 power. I have a locker in the rear and a limited slip up front so she can really hunker down and grab in the mud and rocks.
Is it a unibody or a body on frame?

160 MPH [:0]......[:D]. What's up with the Tach colors ?
I think the redline is supposed to look like dirt/mud?
They put a lot of little features like that in it. There is pattern in the seats with JEEP sewn in many times, a small Jeep picture on the windshield, and some random maps carved in the storage console.

Unibody.

FWIW
I drive a 2001 Cherokee with the "never say die" 4.0 in-line 6 and get close to 22 mpg running the summer tires. The only twisty knobs are for the radio and heater.
Not to denigrate your vehicle but personally, I'm somewhat embarrassed to see the JEEP logo on the new series of vehicles. Guess the "cross over" crowd has more $$ so that's where the market goes.

No need to worry. I hear what you are saying. I'm wondering if the market is just forcing them that way or what?
You can still buy an off-road capable Jeep in the Trailhawk line of most models. Be prepared to open that wallet up a little more though.

There, I fixed it for you[:D]
At least it's not that adaptive graphic flower thing the put on the dash of the Dodge dart...
The car nobody wanted and nobody bought.
Mike
A guy I work with bought one. He didn't keep it too long.
Jon
Nice and I like the color. The straight shift would have been nice, but a lot of people nowadays can't drive em.
Yep. The wife will drive it occasionally too, so the Auto is just easier to deal with.

Here's an example (at 1.25 minutes) of the BLD system kicking in and killing all power to the wheels of a Patriot.

Solution is more speed and momentum or pulling out ABS fuse.

The dealership said they plugged the flashdrive in and everything should be up-to-date as of when I drove it off the lot. I'm going to call the dealership tomorrow and see what all was "updated."
