Got a call from Ruger..........................

About 7 weeks ago, I sent my Ruger .44 Special Flattop back to Ruger.
I, with no help from any one, just all by myself, dropped it onto a concert floor while taking it out of the safe. It landed on the front sight, bending it over and taking a chunk out of it. Also put a good ding on the outside edge of the muzzle.
Called Ruger and told a gal in customer service what I did and that I wanted a new front sight, I can live with the ding on the barrel as it is a packin' - working holster gun. She gave me a RA number.
So I packed it up, wrote a letter saying I broke it and that I just wanted a new front sight and that I would pay for it.
Well, yesterday, a very nice young lady from Ruger called me to confirm which address to return the gun to ( I am on file both as a FFL and as a regular customer ). I asked her how much the bill was.
She said NO CHARGE. They replaced the barrel, with a new front sight and reblued the whole gun.......... NO CHARGE !!!!!! Shipped it out to me yesterday. Tracking number says I will have it Monday.
I have always had good service in the past from Ruger, getting parts or what not, but this is GREAT service.
Just wanted say I am very happy / very pleased with Ruger !!!!

A friend of mine just recently bought a used .44 mag Super Blackhawk on GB. He tried a dozen different .44 mag loads, but the revolver grouped like a shotgun. We tried factory ammo and handloads, different bullet weights and velocities, no luck. So I sent it back to Ruger for him, he wrote a letter telling them how the revolver just wouldn't shoot. Three weeks after I sent the revolver to Ruger it came back with a new barrel and a test target proving it shoots now; all for No Charge! Ruger's customer service is top notch! [:)]

When I had a firing pin problem with my 25-06 Ruger No.1, they told me it would cost me a bundle to have it replaced, so I took it to my local GS and he fixed it for $100.00 bucks!...So, I am no fan myself...They wouldn't even talk to me about, and it was a factory defect...

    Damn them.

That reblueing has destroyed any collector value of the piece going forward.

I kept an early 44 Mag Blackhawk dismantled in a cigar box for 25 years
because I reheattreated the dead soft (B99) frame incorrectly.
Both Ruger and Elmer Keith (my hero) claimed surface decarburation.
I should have reheattreated it in an oxygen free atmosphere to prevent a tough scale from forming in all the small holes.
Anyway, during a recall 25 years later, I called with my story, told them the nonsense I was fed and Ruger sent me a brand new Super Blackhawk.

I have a MkI Target Auto with a 5.5" Bull Barrel. I got it in 1980, and by 1988, I had put 100,000+ rounds through it, and the trigger broke.

I sent it back to Ruger for a trigger replacement and a checkup. They replaced every internal part, reblued the thing beautifully, and refused to charge me a dime.

I have never shot a Ruger I didn't like, and have nothing but the best opinion of them.

    ++1.

FWIW, once I broke a firing pin on my Smith 22A auto pistol.

Sent it to them, they fixed it it and sent it back to me, no charge. Can't complain about that.

Ironically, I had a Ruger 10/22 that the receiver snapped in half on, they charged me for a new receiver and return shipping [B)]

Are the hand guns and long guns treated as separate divisions of the same company???

I see a pattern of good service on hand guns and not so much on long guns.

Not sure if it's still the same, but handguns were made in Prescott, Arizona and long guns in Connecticut.

Looks like New Hampshire is where long guns are made now.
