Taurus mispelled "magnum" on the barrel of a 41

Would this be worth anything extra to a collector...yes, I realize that Taurus handguns are not collectable, but with the wrong spelling, would it add anything to the value?

In my experience most collectors don't get excited about errors on guns, unlike stamp and coin collectors who go nuts over upside-down flags and the like. Some sellers try to get more for guns with "mis-stampings" but I don't think it works. One of the most common is a S&W revolver with the wrong model number stamped on it. I have seen several .44 Magnums marked Model 57s and other similar goofs. It happens.

If you find having a ".41 Magnun" interesting then go for it. But I wouldn't look for a lot of increased value or interest from collectors.

I wonder how many were shipped like that?

Maybe it fires .41 Specials, in which case "Magnun" would be correct.

There is an auction, on the other site, for a Taurus .44 Magnum that is stamped .41 Magnum. But hey, at least they spelled that one right.

SP I have one of the S&W model 25 revolvers that is marked 1950 instead of 1955. I don't know how many were done that way, but when I bought it new some 30 years ago, he had several. I saw a model 10 about 12 years ago that a dealer had that didn't have any rifling in the barrel. He asked me what I thought about it and I told him to send it back to the distributor as it was technically a short barrel shotgun.

Such miispellings or misstampings on knives and many other products would indicate possibility of a counterfeit, forgery or a chinese knock off. As such they would be unlikely to add value and could very well lead to a buyer demanding you prove the gun is an "origianl" Taurus and not a knock off!!!

Why would anyone produce a counterfeit Taurus? Next thing we'll be seeing fake Timexes and 1990 Pinto replicas.

I hear they are considered very fashionable in some of the more upscale barrios of Sao Palo.

If the taurus is faked now in 2006 by the time a taurus will be a collectable, like in a 100 years, the faked taurus would be a whole lot harder to detect then if it is freshly faked in a 100 years.

I like your thinking. I'm thinking about building a car that is half-Clenet and half-Taurus, and painting it pink. Guess what I'm going to call it?

If we all had one of those DWS we would be a pink-car nation.

Maybe "Magnun" is the way they spell it in Brazilian Portuguese (?)

    ...Ha! "Pink car-nation"!
