This is my buddies gun, he offered it to me yesterday but I don't have the extra cash right now. Reserve is low. Thanks for looking!

*EDIT* to get the info correct!

Is he sure this is not a cut-down 336? I have several marauders and they all have straight stocks and were early 60's manufacture. This is the first I've seen with a pistol grip and full-length forend.

DWS, I've just asked him. I'll post what he says about it. I know nothing about these guns, maybe someone will come along thats real knowlegable about these to help us figure it out. I know he's not trying to deceive anyone, so I'd appreciate the help. Thanks

There were short barreled 1893 carbines, I know, but this is the first 336 Marauder I've heard of from the 50's.

How does one even know it's a "Marauder", does it say it on it somewhere, or was it just a style (carbine)?

By serial number and appearance. The Marauders I have are straight stocked with no front sight hood. If your friend's gun has a 1950's rather than early 1960's serial number, then he either has a very rare Marauder or it's just a 336 that has been cut down. It is obviously important to know which, as one is collectable and the other is worth less than an unmolested 336.

OK, from my research, his is a Marlin 336SC made in '57, and I found out his has a 20" barrel, thus making it not a Marauder. I told him and he should be changing the ad. Sorry for the confusion.
